My point is
anyone even Remain voters, in fact all fractions, not only could be but most likely will be equally targeted and become the focus of a a controlling group who stand to gain from a certain outcome.

Left right lib, any group at all is vulnerable to this type of reinforced group think.

I'm still surprised that you in this case cannot pull back from the commitment you have to your perspective enough to evaluate what those around you are saying.

Critical thinking and evaluation of the veracity of the material we consume is vital to having individual thoughts .

No I stated a fact. Just as Facebook (mark Z) confirm they did a similar thing.

But still you too are missing the point.

I am pointing out that no one, and it appears that for you it needs saying clearly, including me can rest on their laurels, using the same sources of old.
Which actually all rely on the same ground swell of information.

It's just not enough any more to quote someone from a newspaper or trust a untrustworthy platform.

I cant really see how my point is unreasonable.

We are all fair game to being manipulated by those who have the power to do so.

Those who are most vulnerable to this are those who refuse to accept it happens in their group also.

of course we have to look at a wide range of material and evaluate it critically, but what makes you accuse others of

Listening to the The Secret Agents podcast on the Musk ‘donation’ issue, they are taking it really seriously. The Secret Agents are reputable, experienced political journalists, not given to hyperbole and conspiracy theory.

Their opinion is that (if the donation does happen) the money will likely be spent in a similar way e.g. purchasing and analysing enormous amounts of data on millions of people, who will then be digitally targeted according to sophisticated demographics etc.

In other words ‘brainwashed’ ahead of the next election. That’s why any donation will be made sooner rather than later - allowing 4 years to drip feed the Reform PLC message into people’s psyche in a highly targeted, unregulated, insidious manner.

It worked with Brexit - Farage has form on this approach. Who better to help him this time but the world’s richest man / social media mogul!

Anybody with half a brain uses Google (and other search engines and sources of information intelligently).

Google itself doesn't provide information. It gives links to places where information can be found. Unfortunately, its algorithms mean that conspiracy theorists can game the system so that their links appear first in the search list and the gullible will choose the first link.

Hopefully, people are getting wiser and dig a bit deeper and look up sources of information and query any claims that are made, including how information has been gathered.

It isn't 'theory', it's fact. It has been in the public domain since just after the EU referendum. In fact, a Commons Select Committee had Mark Zuckerberg in front of them to answer questions about it and the government website had a whole collection of the 'dark' adverts available to view. Probably still does.
Now Facebook has to make sure that political adverts state on them the organisation that paid for them.

Elon Musk doesn't give away 75 million without expectation of returns for his money. We have to ask what they are and whether we want

to bring a US style politics to the UK and to start playing his game of then prompting others to raise money from huge donations - need without strings - and to bring the style of "rule by conspiracy SM" over here.

Its bad enough already without starting to countenance foreign funding getting involved.

Farge is going to use it to build his own media empire I suspect...he isn't interested in politics at all-just lining his own pockets.

Probably a good idea to cap donations, it won’t stop biased media reporting.
