An absolute travesty. How disrespectful. The Nativity is not a joke but a fundamental of the Christian faith. I can’t see such disrespect to their traditions tolerated by Jewish and Muslim friends.

I think it's lovely, anything that brings a smile to someone's face in these hard times is a blessing. The children look like they enjoyed it so that is enough for me.

I so agree. This anthropomorphalisation of animals, especially dogs, is nauseating.

The dog walkers will other people whilst out walking their dogs which must be good. These dogs are not normally dressed up - it's a once a year thing.

Someone I know here is involved in a Galgo rescue society and she has three of them. They are so thin that they wear coats throughout the winter. it gets very cold here.

I'm very fond of dogs and have had several as pets in years gone by.
I find the whole idea of dressing up dogs completely barmy.

That looks fun. Those dogs don't look like fashion accessories to me, they look like doggy dogs having a good time with their fellows & owners.

Good grief. I’d run a mile. How dreadfully disrespectful

I also am not a fan of dressing up dogs. A skinny dog might need a coat but no more, they are dogs not children.

I wonder what Fido & Co. are saying to each other.......it's a bit like the annual Sausage Walk in Hyde Park.

I have to say that I'm with you on that one. Let dogs be dogs - they're not some kind of fashion accessory or novelty. I'm not a fan of dressing them up, whatever the occasion.

Treating animals like humans, or anthropomorphism, can be harmful to animals and their owners. Not something to be celebrated or encouraged by animal lovers surely?

Aveline Wed 18-Dec-24 16:12:47

I feel that dogs intrinsic dogness is insulted by dressing them up. I hate to see them in fancy dress

Smileless2012 Wed 18-Dec-24 16:10:36

My only concern is for the dogs wearing tinsel and Christmas baubles in case anything becomes ingested. I don't regard it as disrespectful or feel that it mocks my Christian beliefs or the dogs.

With so little around at this time of year that does recognise the true meaning of Christmas, I think it makes a refreshing change.

Thanks for sharing Dinahmo.

I hate seeing dogs in clothes. It's disrespectful if you know what I mean.

Skydancer Wed 18-Dec-24 15:47:21

I've just about heard it all now. Haven't these people got better things to do!

escaped Wed 18-Dec-24 15:47:06

Wonderful!
My dogs would love that with all their mates.

karmalady Wed 18-Dec-24 15:46:20

Ridiculous

Turns the nativity into a complete farce and how disrespectful

Making mock of Christian beliefs and of the dogs

Something to cheer all of you (I hope). It was news at the weekend. Maybe not for people who aren't dog lovers.
