I know lots of GNetters expressed a liking for this family group. Perhaps it's just me but I find their latest rendition tasteless in the extreme. They are a monetised channel and I think exploiting this woman's stunning bravery is sick. I won't link to their offering to the tune of "50 ways to leave your lover" it's easy to find. I couldn't bring myself to listen to more than the first few bars.

Nope.
Gone off them altogether, sorry.

Definitely seem to be marmite material. I think this Christmas fund raiser for Save the children "Universal child"moving and appropriate

I see the crass video is no longer available on You Tube. Thank goodness!!!

LittleToothill Sat 21-Dec-24 11:13:30

Sorry I have no idea who the Marsh family are .! Am I missing something ?

Watching a song doesn't add money to their coffers.

They have their jobs and they have a number of people who subscribe to their channel.

They also have done considerable fund raising for charities. Their current one is their Christmas one for Save the Children.

Some songs are political satire, some about family life.

It's unforgivable, as far as I'm concerned.

I thought if you clicked on to listen to their songs they got revenue from the adverts.

I shan't be listening.
A step too far, Marsh family. They'd be best to withdraw it to avoid a backlash.

I listened once to the Marsh family, and thought they were awful.

No, don't think I'll bother. Don't want to add to their coffers.

BlueBelle Sat 21-Dec-24 10:45:40

Not fake you can easily watch it online
It’s pretty awful it doesn’t name her but there’s no doubt who they are signing about

Allira Sat 21-Dec-24 10:44:22

I ve never liked them
I don’t like the way the children are indoctrinated to their ways of thinking
I haven’t heard the song but nothing about this case is light hearted and ts disgusting to make it seem so

I think they indoctrinated their children too and they make me feel quite uneasy.

This latest, if true, is a disgrace, truly vile and sickening.
Surely it must be fake information?
They could not be that crass.

Jaxjacky Sat 21-Dec-24 10:43:40

I too have never taken to the Marsh family, I think this is opportunistic, tasteless and downright thoughtless.

BlueBelle Sat 21-Dec-24 10:40:05

I don’t think anyone should be singing about a situation like this singing should be a joyous event there is nothing joyous about most of their subjects
I don’t like it at all that the children are involved and brainwashed in a variety of controversial subjects
Nasty money grabbing, celebrity hungry parents dragging their children into their business

MissInterpreted Sat 21-Dec-24 10:38:00

Nevertheless, it's clearly in very poor taste to cash in on something like that.

Wyllow3 Sat 21-Dec-24 10:34:26

I like the Marsh family generally - followed them since covid days - some songs are great, others not so, but I didn’t want to comment without listening to it.

….. It’s certainly not “light hearted” in anyway whatsoever if you listen.

As regards the language and sentiments, its lyrics don’t say anything thats not been said many times over and over on our own Pelicot thread never mind social media and mainstream media..

The song doesn’t name her, it describes how she wasn’t believed at first, then was, and it names the men, “calls them out”.

However - I do not think its a effective or well written or performed, very hastily written and not thought through enough, and would have been better not done.

They're the ones singing about "Starmer the harmer", who people liked last week.

It’s Chris Middleton and Dean Ager who sing that one.

Galaxy Sat 21-Dec-24 09:42:01

Yes that's an interesting point. And young women growing up with only fans, porn, social media, I wonder which was worse the old fashion 'womens place is in the kitchen' or this.

MissAdventure Sat 21-Dec-24 09:09:48

People talk about the bad old days, when sexism was rife, and here we are now with idiot, publicity hungry families singing about a woman's abuse.

merlotgran Sat 21-Dec-24 09:08:20

I liked the Marsh Family’s early videos. I thought they were all very talented but then it became clear that the children were being indoctrinated by their parents’ ‘chip on shoulder’ left wing politics.

I won’t be listening.

OldFrill Sat 21-Dec-24 09:05:16

They have a video "men can say no" that mentions Pelicot too. It's cringeworthyness surpasses all others. Absolutely diabolical. The university lecturer father apparently comes up with most of the lyrics, which are appalling. Should kids be singing about schlongs.

Grannybags Sat 21-Dec-24 08:58:55

I’ve never been keen on them either. Can’t believe they actually thought this latest video was a good idea

MissInterpreted Sat 21-Dec-24 08:57:14

I've never even heard of them - but in my opinion, anyone exploiting something like this for their own social media views and likes is in very poor taste, to put it mildly.

MissAdventure Sat 21-Dec-24 08:54:34

These kinds of things are all about publicity for the family.

Iy just goes to show they don't care about the subject matter, as long as it put them in the spotlight.

RosiesMaw2 Sat 21-Dec-24 08:53:18

I have only seen a couple of their videos but found them in poor taste at best. Involving children smacks of indoctrination and the whole effect is smug and self congratulatory.
Nasty really.
