Death of Jimmy Carter

He was a lovely man and I was sad to hear he had died. He seemed gentle and kind - not traits one often finds in leaders unfortunately.

My late DH served in the honour guard at the White House during Jimmy Carter's presidency. He told me that he was a thoroughly decent man. He always took time to speak them and ask about their families.

His wife and family were the same.

RIP Mr Carter.

Jimmy Carter. Bless his soul. The last decent man to represent a people's nation.

Quite interesting, thirty days USA flags flying half - during inauguration (amusing) and their most important holiday for civil rights.

He leaves a legacy of integrity, honesty, decency, and honourable behaviour. Nothing better could be said, in my opinion.

It's rare to have someone right at the top who's totally genuine & decent, but Jimmy Carter was just that.
Probably coming after Nixon, voters were looking for just those qualities for once.

The only US president who was not allowed to play Monopoly as it is for everyone from 9 to 99 years old!

I remember the relief when the Camp David deal was signed. Definitely one of the good guys

By all accounts , Jimmy Carter was a thoroughly decent and honourable man .

A decent man, a politician, rare person who strove to do good in the world.

He did appear to be a decent man.Almost from a different world compared to what we have now. What I remember most about his tenure, only President for a short while and The Iranian Revolution kicked off followed by the hostage crisis.

He was one of the good ones!
Brought up in dire poverty, he pulled himself up by the boot strings. His Nobel Peace price was well deserved.

I agree he was a good president and a great human being. May he rest in peace and all he worked for not be in vain.

He was a decent person who lived a good life. I hope he is reunited with his dear wife in heaven.

A decent man RIP

Yes a decent human being. What a pity that today’s offering is the polar opposite.

I think his standing and importance will grow over the next century and he will eventually be seen as one of the USA's greatest Presidents.

As others have said,he was a good man an honest man the polar opposite of what the US has voted in now.

Sad he wasn,t appreciated while in office and wonder if people will look back and see him with different eyes

A good man. Wish there were more like him in positions of power. If only …

He was very frail and in a nursing home for 2 years.
But still lead a bible study group there every week.
Not fully appreciated during his presidency
Undaunted he spent the rest of his life working hard all over the world and trying to do good.

He was 100 and his wife Rosalind died only last year. They had been married for 77 years.

Jimmy Carter managed to broker a peace between Israel and Egypt when he was President.

He established the Carter Center to promote and expand human rights and to try to resolve conflicts around the world. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work.
