I’ve started this thread because for some unfathomable reason the one discussing the latest agreement has disappeared.

An important subject for all concerned, and too important to ignore.

So as you were folks.

I have just listened to a man who’s cousin is one of the hostages, his account is heartbreaking.

The Hamas monsters live streamed their attack on his family from his phone to all his family and contacts in his Facebook account.

When you hear factual testimony like this, it is no wonder that Israelis do not ant never will feel safe…

Monsters is exactly right.

We all feel sorrow for Gazans, particularly the women and children there and any non sympathetic to hamas. How that group have made all of Gaza suffer for their ideology and idiocy.
A better Gaza may emerge from the ashes of the old one.

A male hostage who is to be released soon, his wife and two
daughters were killed in the Hamas slaughter in Israel

I challenge your assumption Kalm that posters feel hatred for the Palestinians.. I feel nothing but pity and compassion for them.. I also feel pain for them that they are returning to their homes when I think that in a few weeks the war will resume.. and that they are absolutely trapped and controlled both by the Israelis and Hammas.

Thankyou for that post Maybee. I see that the ICC is having problems bringing about court cases against Neyanyahu because some European countries are not pursuing it..

From Wikipedia
Since 2006, the United Nations Human Rights Council has mandated several fact finding missions into violations of international law, including war crimes, in the OPT, and in May 2021 established a permanent, ongoing inquiry.[9][10] Since 2021, the ICC has had an active investigation into Israeli war crimes committed in the OPT.[11][12] Israel has refused to cooperate with the investigations.[13][14] In December 2023, South Africa invoked the 1948 Genocide Convention and charged Israel with war crimes and acts of genocide committed in the occupied Palestinian Territories and Gaza Strip.[15][16][17] The case, South Africa v. Israel, was set to be heard at the International Court of Justice (ICJ),[18] and South Africa presented its case to the court on 10 January.[19] In March 2024, the UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the OPT found there were "reasonable grounds to believe that the threshold indicating the commission" of acts of genocide had been met.[20] In November 2024, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity.[21] In December 2024, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch accused Israel of genocide.[22][23][24]
But nothing will come of it and the war has just recruited another generation of Hamas supporters I fear.

I see GN members who are anti Hamas, which is recognised as a terrorist group across the world.

I have sympathy for the innocent Palestinians, who have been used by Hamas as human shields.

Hamas cares nothing for non followers.

Even I am sympathetic to the Palestinian civilians that are suffering, but they elected monsters who see every one of them as human shields to be martyred for the cause. The only way peace will come to Gaza is for a peaceful government to take over, one that can control the extremists within the borders. It seemed a long way from that the way the hostages were paraded before their release.

It seemed today that Hamas fighters were being deliberately provocative... I despair for the Palestinian people showing such joy and courage returning to their homes.. How awful to have no control over their lives ..

That was my understanding too pascal. As I couldn't understand what they were shouting, I couldn't really work out what they were doing. There's one point when they were keeping the crowd back.

My goodness! If GNers are going to be so negative, how on earth does anybody think there will any reconciliation?

It was quite refreshing to hear an interview with an Egyptian diplomat, who was behaving like an adult.

How, exactly, are Gransnetters influencing events in the Middle East?

Were the militants behaving like adults in your opinion?

1 I didn't suggest that GNers are influencing events.

2 No (irrelevant question - my reference was to an Egyptian diplomat).

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-25 21:25:36

They certainly do not look malnourished, no aid reaching them , most strange

GrannyGravy13 Sun 19-Jan-25 21:19:13

Hamas have no respect for anyone or anything!

The footage of Gazans going back to ghost homes makes me weep, and yet they thank God they are alive and some even sorry they are not in heaven with their beloved babies and mothers

It's always the women and children who suffer, isn't it, Kalm 😥

Just how can you deal with an organisation whose entire raison d'etre is to destroy all Jews, other than by killing them all ? So it is an impossible situation, thanks to the persistent anti-Jewish hatred.

Chilling in the extreme.

Have you no awareness at all as to why and how that so-called 'raison d'etre' came about, and how it grew and grew.

So are you saying there is justification for such terrorism? , to destroy all Jewish people whoever an how innocent they are?
🤔

Chilling in the extreme.
Indeed.

NO, not at all.

Just re-write your sentence and switch things around.

So you are saying thee is justification for such terrorism, to destroy all Palestinians people whoever an how innocent they are?

Neutral and factual history is very important. One cannot rely on "alternative facts" as the abhorrent right wing governments are doing. Certainly Palestinian history must not be interfered with by the state of Israel.

Anniebach Sun 19-Jan-25 19:48:18

Pushed to chilling extremes, very chilling , rape, even children in their cribs, murder, no, what has driven this is hatred of Jews, been so long before 1848

There was of course no Gaza strip before 1948.

The history of the conflict is worth reading again, written of course by a Jew.

Why do you think Palestinians have been pushed to such chilling extremes- for their survival.

flown in perhaps!
