And German newspapers reporting a little child and a man stabbed to death by another evil monster on the rampage in a park.
Project Freedom.. deserves its own thread!
It seems the Home Office knew very quickly that Alex Rudakabuna was a terrorist.
The decision was made to cover this up, Nigel Farage was prevented from asking questions in parliament, he claims there would have been less chance of riots if the public had been told the truth.
Was it in the best interests of the public to hide the truth?

Sorry Sago, not really the topic of your thread I know, although the discussion was recently talking about the ease of acquiring knives.

I have just seen this, the little one was 2yrs old
Maybe the online sale of some types of knives should be banned altogether. I can’t think of any reason why combat knives of any kind are sold, whether to children or adults. It’s sad, having seen the Knife Angel.

And now, yesterday in Birmingham, a 12 year old boy stabbed to death on his way home from school by a 14 year old who also attacked an 80 year old woman.
I'm sick of all this.
So am I.
It’s every week now that we see knife killings being reported. Usually the victims are but children themselves and the perpetrators are also often teenagers.
I never remember this happening every week when I was young. Of course there were murders, sadly there always will be, but these children killing other children is a more recent development. I don’t know why.
Children are having access to violent images online and some are affected adversely by this. Many children who are convicted of violence are found to have searched online for these vile images.
Barleyfields
Yes. And a fan of Farage. I find it worrying if this is an example of a typical Reform voter.
There is no such thing as a typical Reform voter anymore than there is any such thing as a typical Labour voter. This post and Houseplant queen’s post are deeply offensive.
In what way are they deeply offensive, and to whom?

Simply responding by saying don’t blame Amazon isn’t enough. This 17 year old, known to various agencies as posing a risk to others, if not to himself was able to buy a knife from Amazon, was it the knife he used to murder children and women looking after them.
In pointing this out, I’m not simplistically blaming Amazon, I’m saying Amazon is part of the problem.
We have a problem with knife crime, with children killing other children with knives
Anything we can do to reduce this must be done.
Like Casdon I’ve seen the knife Angel
Because it focuses on the wrong question. It is easy though and will achieve nothing. It is action in order to look as if something is being done. It is a distraction.
As he appears to have managed to hide a vast amount of dangerous material, I suspect taking a knife out of the knife rack would have been doable. It is not the same as dunblane where actually legislating against guns was a remarkably effective strategy. It is sadly different with knives.
It’s not a linear problem Galaxy. The focus on one element which contributes does not in any way imply neglect of the other elements? I don’t know if you listened to what was said in parliament yesterday, but it certainly was not all focussed on the purchasing of knives? Most street killings are carried out with combat knives though, not domestic knives.
I actually think there is only room for certain number of issues before others get excluded, it is an extremely complex case, and as I say this issue is easy. Amazon made in my view zero difference to the end result.
It’s the principle - that our children can get hold of knives and machetes. It needs to be tackled and it is equally a distraction to say Amazon doesn’t matter. It all matters
Do you? I don’t agree with you, I think attention to resolving systemic issues and actions which can be taken quickly are all worthwhile. I’ve been involved in a number of inquiries, and I’ve never known the inquiry to ignore some of the elements that contributed to whatever went wrong.
They will still without question get hold of knives.
But it gives us an easy identifiable 'baddy'.
Of course they will still get hold of knives. Does that mean we put the white flag up and say, ok crack on, get knives and kill each other.
Of course not
But that is what will happen. It will make no difference to crimes such as this.
Crimes such as this are rare. Teenagers stabbing each other more lijely
That’s saying we just can’t solve this, so let’s not try Galaxy. If combat knife sales were banned, they would be less accessible. Of course it wouldn’t stop knife crime, but it mitigates the risk. This is clearly a huge and complex issue, nobody is denying that, and thousands of actions will be needed to make any difference whatsoever - but why you are focussed on decrying one small element which was not emphasised heavily in Yvette Cooper’s speech, I don’t know.
Another child stabbed to death today
No it is saying that doing this wont solve it in my view. All sorts of things wont solve it. I am not saying we cant solve it, I am saying it would have had no impact on this crime whatsoever.
The thing is though, this crime is done. The outcome of the inquiry will surely be actions to mitigate risks so that the chances of a similar occurrence in future are less. Nobody is saying this one action will solve it, but that it’s one contributory factor where action is possible. None of us know what this particular crime would have become if circumstances were different, if the agencies had taken earlier action, if he had no knife, etc. but we know what did happen.

Another child stabbed to death today
Indeed. A 12 year old beautiful boy heading home from school at 3pm.
Stabbed by a 14 year old … who had previously assaulted an 80 year old woman.
The news these days is beyond awful.
Poor families.
“Leo Ross was stabbed in the stomach as he walked home from school through Hall Green, an affluent suburb of south-east Birmingham on Tuesday.
He was found wounded on a road in The Shire Country Park by a member of the public at about 3pm, near Scribers Lane. He was taken to hospital but did not survive his injuries.
West Midlands police arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of murder three hours after the attack. The teenager is also being investigated over an unrelated “serious assault” on a woman in her 80s in the same area on Sunday, and remains in custody.”
I have said it before and I will say it again, why are there not more high profile campaigns against child on child and youth on youth knifings the way there are on young girls and grooming gangs? At least the girls live to tell their story. perhaps that is the problem, dead boys cannot speak.
