A strange title. Apparently he or she is already at work over the pond.

Oh yes. The title Republicans originally gave to Kamala, though she was never the Border Czar. This was never a thing.

Tom Homan has been named the US Border Czar. A little bit about him.

He is a former police officer and was acting ICE Director during Trumps first term.

Tom Homan joined The Heritage Foundation in 2022 and is a contributer to Project 2025.

He was a huge proponent of separating families at the border during his first term under Trump. In the end, his policy ended up separating 5,500 migrant children from their families.

His quote regarding the separation of families:

"Homan, as recently as the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2023, said “I’m sick and tired hearing about the family separation… You know, I’m still being sued over that, so come get me. I don’t give a shit, right. Bottom line is, we enforced the law.”"

He has working relationships with anti-Muslim and anti-immigrant hate groups, including The United West, which has been labeled an anti-muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Is it the word Border or Czar which you find strange, bee16B?

Czar or Tsar is a fairly normal political term used for someone who is appointed to deal with a specific issue.

There's an old Westminster gag about Labour creating more tsars than Russia. It was never particularly funny, but at least it was recognisable as a joke. Until today – when new figures have been published showing that it is actually true.

Guardian, March 2010

The Conservatives have also appointed several Tsars over the years, notably Alan Sugar and many others.

Well we need one. “Smash the Gangs” isn’t working.

We've probably got one already.
In fact, there are probably more than we ever realised

The government's new Value for Money chief has headed up several big projects that went massively over-budget.

David Goldstone has previously worked as a top executive on the London Olympics, Parliament's restoration and HS2 high speed rail.

He will now head up the government's new Office for Value for Money (OfVM), external, advising Chancellor Rachel Reeves on "how to root out waste and inefficiency", according to the Treasury.

Thst should go well, then! 😁

Tom Homan sounds like a really nice guy. America is screwed.

Wait until you see who he wants to put in charge of the military.

I can't see how anywhere in the world will be safe with a drunkard, racist, Fox News host but hey, what do I know?

Sorry, that should have included the heading:

"Value for Money tsar linked to string of overspends"

The ‘border tsar’ isn’t the official title for Martin Hewitt. The former police chief has been appointed to the new role of ‘Border Security Commander’, but it won’t be long before he ascends to tsardom, given the hype around the job
