2 Republican Reps in Texas have filed some type of bill to amend the strict abortion ban. Apparently after Pro Publica reported on the number of women who have died, they decided that too many have died.

"ProPublica found that, since the ban, incidence of sepsis has increased by more than 50% for women who had second-trimester miscarriages. In these cases, the standard of care is to evacuate the uterus. If doctors have to wait for the fetal heartbeat to stop, the woman is often exposed to deadly bacteria.

ProPublica also counted 120 deaths of hospitalized pregnant women, a massive increase. One of those women was Josseli Barnica, a 28-year-old mother who had a miscarriage at 17 weeks pregnant. Doctors told her she couldn’t get treatment until they could no longer detect a fetal heartbeat. So they waited. She died of sepsis. More than a dozen medical experts who reviewed her case told ProPublica Barnica’s death was preventable."

I totally agree that Trump rules by fear for those who want to oppose him - the aim really is to stop people speaking up in the first place.

Obviously a lot of people still support him - I think until something happens to them it won't change., and the trickle down effects in education, medicare, food prices, jobs will take time to hit home.

Just so you know, I am headed out of town this weekend. I didn't want you all the think I had finally gone off the deep end over here.

GG13 - on nuclear power plants, there appears to be a difference of opinion about what Trump/Zelensky are saying about nuclear power plants.
Ie Trump says he wants them all, Zelensky says just the one plant

It is a bit like that riddle where you are faced with two people with completely opposing stories, one of whom always lies, the other always tells the truth, but you don't know which is which. Your task is to work out whch is the genuine story. (The answer, if you haven't met this riddle, is that you ask one of them what the other would say - and then believe the opposite)

The difference now is that BOTH of them are known to be more than "economical with the truth".

I'll go for both, with the rider that some issues might have been glazed over in their discussions, so Trump for example thought he had a commitment on such and such but in fact none was given, it was assumed.

Well Putin has gone from pariah to a player on the international stage again thanks to Trump. I imagine Zekensky will be forced to give ground and Putin will feel empowered to once again double down on NATO aided and abetted by Trump whose support for NATO has always been suspect.
All signs atm point towards fascism gaining ground.
We have been here before and it didn’t end well.

Yesterday March 19th it was quite clear to me that Trump was not telling what he and Putin had actually said to each other, nor had they agreed to give the same public statements regarding their phone conversation.

Zelinsky will not give ground, either literallly or metaphorically, as Putin has not kept to the agreement not to hit electricity plants etc. in Ukraine.

Presumably, Putin is demonstrating what we all knew in advance: he is not prepared to agree to a cease-fire of any kind or any duration. He may not still think he can win this war, but he is not ready to throw in his hand.

The most interesting point to me is: who is lying here? Trump or Putin? Trump says they did not dicuss American aid to Ukraine, Putin says he demanded that America stops supplyning arms and military information to Ukraine.

Has Trump sold Ukraine down the river? He is quite capable of it, or is Putin trying to make us all believe that Trump has done so? I believe him to be quite capable of that.

Somehow, I dont see it benefitting Ukrainians. Having seized a % of mineral rights he's trying to take control of key power bases (I mean political power/leverage.)

Whats his game? what does he mean by "take control?" US soldiers on the ground - or rather, private contractors with paid "security" private mercenaries.

Trump is an under-performing child who was beaten by his father, despaired of by teachers, and jeered at by his schoolmates.

He has failed to the point of bankruptcy in continuing to run his father's business empire in real estate, as his position and experience in that business as a young man was basically as a rent-collector with menaces for his hard-man father. But by copying his father's strategies and tactics, and cultivating the admiration of like-minded voters, he has found himself in the seat of power over the inhabitants of a major global nation, with what seems to him to be a lot of control over over the destinies of other nations.

He has a lot of resentment to unload onto anyone who looks likely to compete successfully with him, or to try to deny him the free exercise of the exhilarating use of his power over all of them.

Consciously seeking world domination is probably not his deliberate aim (that needs too much attention to details, constructive consideration of how each bit of the global jigsaw will fit with the rest, and patience to let each move settle down before the next strike for his kindergarten mindset of grabbing anything he wants that comes within his reach, pussies included) - but having someone in the background encouraging his ambitions and steering him in suitable directions could create maximun opportunity for his mentor to succeed in the world domination stakes.

A judge ruled thay what Musk did to USAID is unconstitutional and he has been told to start reversing it.

Several judges ruled that Trump and Musk can not fire all those Federal employees and they all must be returned to work. They were returned to work and put on paid leave.

The next question is going to be, is he going to follow court orders? We already know the answer to this because they are already ignoring them.

Right now there is no mechanism of enforcement because judicial enforcement is done by the US Marshall's Service, which is under the control of Trumps DOJ.

We will see.

I am saying what happened FGT. When police were called, they allowed/helped Musk and his team to go into the building, despite it not being legal for them to do.

I could show you countless examples of police being MAGA, and breaking the law.

Are all police officer MAGA? No. But a large portion of them are. You can look into that if you're interested.

But He is getting rid of FBI agents and there will be CIA cuts, and who do you think will get chosen to "stay"?
