The other filled up very swiftly - so I assume a need for it’s continuation.

Oh goodness imaround what a horrible accident and then to be stung with that bill!!
Reform voters, like Trump voters, don’t see beyond the populist twaddle that is there just to fool people into voting for them.
Their policies are hard to pin down apart from the one that promises to deal with ‘unfettered immigration’ which is the popular - or should I say the populist - turn of phrase right now. And like Trump they won’t be able to do much about this either.
Take care.

Oh imaround, that's terrible. I hope that your son recovers quickly.
I'm not sure that your bank account will be quite so quick to recover .

imaround Wed 19-Feb-25 22:48:42

I'll have to see what the cause of this one is.

Thanks Babs! We set a record of -6F this morning. We are freezing our bums off! I'll be glad when I can be home for the rest of the day. We should be done with appointments for my son for now. He has to let the bones in his face heal before we can fix the teeth. He manged to pass out, hit his face on the fridge and break his nose, top jaw bone and 2 teeth.

He is completely fine but may need a tooth implant in the future.

For those Reform voters, this incident us going to cost us about $8,000 put of pocket AFTER our insurance picks it up. Be careful what you are being promised.

Hope our government stands strongly by Zelensky when Trump visits.

Babs03 Wed 19-Feb-25 22:28:27

I did read that about Trump calling Zelensky a dictator and saying he won’t have much land left if he continues.
Thankfully Apple and BBC news have just reported that Starmer stands by Zelensky as the democratically elected leader of Ukraine and rejects Trumps comments, saying elections normally can’t take place during a war.
Seeing as Trump will be visiting Starmer soon am not sure how this will affect their meeting.
As for Trump calling himself King am pretty sure he will want to meet King Charles when he visits, tbh will be more like one King and a Joker.
Of course ordinary Americans are being adversely affected, and am sad to hear of another plane crash, unfortunately these are still very early days, Trump and his henchmen can do much more damage.
Keep posting imaround and give your fellow citizens in beautiful Colorado our sincere condolences.
Btw Boris supports Trump but then he would, idiots tend to keep each other company.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 19-Feb-25 22:25:15

Another plane crash, imaround- what is the explanation for this?

imaround Wed 19-Feb-25 22:07:54

We had another plane crash today. This is number 11 I think?

Musk has said Space X is going to take over the Air Traffic control system and upgrade it. Based on his rocket launches, I may not be traveling for a while.

imaround Wed 19-Feb-25 21:56:56

Trump posted on social media today that he has stopped congestion pricing in New York and hailed himself King. The White House then posted the Tweet with an image of Trump as King.

How about cutting Trump some slack? Dumping Europe and not taking financial responsibility for the rest of the world will help the American economy. We need to be much more independent.

Trump just said Zelinsky started the war and called him a Dictator. What Trump is doing is illegal and unconstitutional.

I do not give Putin, Orbin, or Un or any other dictator slack, I won't be giving Trump any either.

And by the way, it will NOT help the economy. Trump is crashing it as we speak. Inflation is up, prices for everything is up, hundreds of thousands of people have lost their jobs and we haven't even begun to see the fall out from that.

Farmers will start losing farms now that Trump has cut $2 billion from them. Billions of d0llars of food and medicines are sitting spoiling and not getting to the people.it should have.

I would think what Trump is doing will actually harm the UK. If not all put WWIII, then in terms of migrants ants headed to Europe in search if food and medicine.

Casdon I don’t think the UK will have any influence over Ukraine and Russia and Trump won’t be at all interested in anything Starmer proposes. It’s just life.

It’s quite shocking how long Ukraine has been fighting- go and ask Ukrainian refugees living here. It’s very sad.

That’s not what you said though ronib, you said the UK had no excuse but to adapt to a change of circumstances. The UK is an independent nation, not America’s puppet, and we will decide with the rest of Europe what our individual and collective response should be.

We can adapt to a change in circumstances, but that doesn't mean we have to appease and accommodate a dangerous liar.

We are such an all knowing bunch - however since Trump has declared his position with or without his dummy in tact, this government has no excuse but to adapt to a change of circumstances.

Just honest ronib, not all knowing. What do you mean exactly when you say our government has no excuse but to adapt to a change of circumstances? I sincerely hope you don’t mean we should let Trump do just as he likes, whatever his plans are.

Well am not so sure about that. Am sure our government will have to jump when Trump says how high, but am unhappy with all this Kow towing, or adapting as you put it, which makes what many accused the EU of doing during brexit look positively lame.
As you say Trump has declared his position so his minnions - including us - have to put up with it.
If you did vote to leave the EU how does this level of declaring/dictating strike you?

Global politics is becoming increasingly like a Lewis Carol novel by the hour…

Indeed.
Curiouser and curiouser.

It's good to hear any Republicans who have doubts on Trump's Ukraine policy.

CNN

"But Trump’s enthusiasm for Putin is not shared by at least two senior Republican senators.

Senate Armed Services Chairman Roger Wicker said Tuesday that he does not think the Russian leader can be trusted. The Mississippi senator told CNN’s Manu Raju that “Putin is a war criminal and should be in jail for the rest of his life, if not executed

And Sen. John Kennedy agreed with his colleague’s acidic assessment of the Russian leader though stopped short of criticizing Trump’s approach to the peace talks. “Vladimir Putin has a black heart.

He clearly has Stalin’s taste for blood,” the Louisiana senator said. Underscoring the party’s deference to Trump, however, he also rejected claims that the president had offered significant concessions to Russia simply by bringing it in from diplomatic isolation.

“I haven’t seen us take any steps to take the pressure off Putin,” he said."

henetha Wed 19-Feb-25 19:27:25

Well, you might think that, but to most of us Trump is behaving irrationally and talking rubbish.

Casdon Wed 19-Feb-25 19:27:23

How about Trump behaving like an adult president of a superpower with heavy responsibilities to ensure world peace, rather than like a 3 year old who has lost his dummy and is having a tantrum ronib? He isn’t doing this for America.

Volte-face by a Trump apologist

Not long after I posted this (a comment on Ukraine) Trump went bonkers on Zelensky. It is very worrying.
Every claim he makes — from America giving a lot more than Europe to Ukraine, Zelensky support’s being down to 4% and Zelensky being a dictator because he’s not called elections (neither did Churchill when we fought for our freedom) — is demonstrably untrue.
More worrying than that every one is a Kremlin talking point/piece of Putin propaganda.
Why does Trump slag off Zelensky yet never have a harsh word to say about Putin.
Bizarre and distressing.

So the America which was so adverse to Communism is now joined at the hip with Putin!

Putin is not a communist Russia is not communist. It hasn't been communist since the 1980s. 40 years ago.

Why do you keep saying this Lovetopaint?

Trump is joined at the hip to Putin because a) Putin helped him to gain the Presidency the first time round and b) they are birds of a feather, they are after wealth and complete autocratic control. I think they warm to the evil in each other...
