Yes "The First Tine Ever I Saw Your Face" one of the most beautiful songs ever imo. Also "Killing Me Softly" another wonderful song.

What a contribution to the world of music she made.

RIP Roberta Flack.

RIP, I love the First time ever I saw your face my favourite by far.
I was talking about her last night after watching a Motown programme.

A remarkable voice, indeed. A fine legacy left behind.

It’s the most incredible love song of all time isn’t it? If that song was my legacy to the world I’d be very happy.

I loved her songs. She seemed to live the words as she sang them. Literally played it in repeat.

The first time ever I saw your face.
What an epitaph.

Lovely memories of her songs, both of the ones mentioned are huge favourites.
May she be long remembered.

I think the fact Clint Eastwood used ‘The First Time Ever…’ in his film ‘Play Misty For Me’ did a lot for its popularity.

I have loved it since hearing it in that film.

I remember hearing The First Time Ever I saw Your Face in the 1960s from Ewan McColl who visited our folk group at college. I had tears running down my face. Roberta Flack sang it beautifully. RIP Roberta.

Lovely singing voice and a great talent, was very sorry to learn she had MND, horrible illness. RIP Roberta.

Auntieflo Tue 25-Feb-25 14:01:33

Oh heavens RIP Roberta, and having to live with MND. So sad.

RosieandherMaw Many obituaries these days lead me to exclaim "what? she/he was what age!!" I am aware that time is passing ever more rapidly, but forget that it's passing for everyone else too.

Roberta Flack had the most beautiful voice. I read that she initially trained as an opera singer. To not be able to sing because of her illness must have been terrible for her.

I started a thread last year on 10th February, it was Roberta’s 87th birthday, and most of us couldn’t believe her age.

Ziggy62 Wed 26-Feb-25 08:43:34

I didn't realise until yesterday Ewan McColl wrote her most famous song. Beautiful song
