Trump/Zelensky interview in the White House

Who is Trump to talk? Didn’t he point out that America isn’t going to continue Biden’s policy of paying for the war? That Trump wanted to hear how Zelensky was going to find a peace settlement and that too many people have died. Trump doesn’t like killing. That’s who Trump is. Where is peace?

Talking about suits - Churchill didn’t wear a suit to the White House, he wore a sort of boiler suit. trump is an idiot. Who is he to talk anyway? He wears the wrong shade of makeup, an ill fitting suit, his tie is too long and those baseball caps. Well. I too couldn’t believe what I read this morning.

Trump did make one point in that Ukraine was expecting him to fund the war for the next ten years and Trump won’t do that. Trump is someone who is a complete enigma because from one point of view, he’s completely right. The killing has to stop and Ukraine was showing a desire to extend the fight using American money. This would seem to be undeniable. The choice is to extend the conflict whilst America drops out.

Also Trump seems to have an impeccable sense of timing- he hosted Starmer on Thursday and Zelensky on Friday. So we had Starmer’s simpering and almost vassal like visit in full public view followed by Zelensky’s public humiliation the next day. I doubt that Putin will be dropping by the White House anytime soon.

Trump could speak his mind.......if he knew just what it is.
But he zig-zags, changing opinions by the minute, a bankrupt and convicted felon who readily accuses others of lying whilst doing exactly the same himself.

And this is a man who once famously told someone that the way to treat women was "to grab them by the pussy." And he got to be President of the USA?

I posted on the other thread, but there was "accidentally" a Russian State media reporter at the meeting.

The White House hand picked the journalists, but aren't real sure how he got through.

Not only was Zelensky bullied by that ambush, he was also discriminated against when questioned about his attire - the man is at war! Would they treat other heads of state the same way if they wore traditional garb instead of a suit? I think not. Pure ignorance.

Why on earth was this made public? Fight all you want privately but to have everyone watching like that was just sheer bullying. I have never in my life seen politicians behave publicly in such a rude and forthright manner towards a person from another country. Even towards people they detest who have attacked them on their own soil. Even during wartime negotiations.Truly Vomit worthy.

It was certainly a horrible spectacle to watch but I can’t help wondering if something happened or was said before the cameras started rolling which precipitated the angry exchanges with none of the three allowing any of the others to speak uninterrupted.

Sarah Smith, the BBC correspondent in Washington made the comment that Zelensky didn’t know how to deal with Trump which made me wonder if the press had heard something of a possible conversation before the meeting.

There were a lot of accusations that Zelensky had been disrespectful.
Much as I felt so sorry for him I will say one thing- he should most definitely have worn a suit.
