Reform MP Rupert Lowe - and Musk favourite - was suspended following allegations of verbal threats to party chair and two women

Reform UK has suspended Rupert Lowe and reported him to the police following complaints of bullying from two female staff members and allegations of violent threats against the party chair.

Mr Yusuf and Mr Anderson said in their statement that Mr Lowe had "on at least two occasions made threats of physical violence against" Mr Yusuf.

Mr Lowe, 67, has released a statement saying the allegations were "untrue and false", the accusations of physical threats were "outrageous and entirely untrue", and he referenced a "vexatious complaint" made by another staff member.

He has had the whip withdrawn. No longer a Reform MP

Remember Lowe wants Tommy Robinson in the fold. Sorry, ex BNP supporters, riot stirrers, should be beyond the pale?

Apparently Tesla share prices have dropped 15% due, in part, to Trump's tariff frenzy. If this continues he might not be able to afford to use his vast wealth to meddle in politics around the world. Wishful thinking on my part.

It seems we British citizens are generally cross about the bullying of Zelensky and less tolerant of the Trump approach to Maga or the unelected men he’s given huge power to, than we were before he became President. I expect many of us didn’t believe he’d get more not less outlandish

vegansrock Tue 11-Mar-25 16:30:36

Farage toadying up to Trump and neglecting his parliamentary duties have won him no favours back home.

Iam64 Tue 11-Mar-25 17:20:58

True vegansrock, scales falling from eyes, let’s hope people continue to see him for the snake charmer he is

Just to say that now many more details have come to light the way Rupert Lowe has been ill-treated and thrown under the bus, I have lost respect for the Reform Party and I have now rescinded my membership.

Wow! 👏👏👏

Indeed it should!

Reform UK has faced a turbulent week. Internal clashes erupted with Lee Anderson's verbal attack on Ben Habib, accusations of plagiarism surfaced, and Richard Tice drew criticism for a public gaffe. Nigel Farage's statements on Trump and Ukraine sparked controversy, and recent polling indicates a drop in their support. What's behind this string of setbacks?

Wyllow3 Wed 19-Mar-25 00:28:30

I've not been aware of these latest developments. sounds like the different personalities, with the lack of a proper party framework, are just imploding.

nanna8 Wed 19-Mar-25 00:33:58

I instinctively don’t like Ben Habib, I think he is whiny and looking for trouble. The only reason Reform have been/ are doing so well is because the 2 major parties don’t listen to their populace. When they do, Reform will be finished. I think the ghastly Starmer is finally waking up to this but he needs to get rid of Rachel Reeves to start with.

Old news from two weeks ago. Some tedious willy-waving from Anderson and Habib on social media, Tice outside a chip shop in Glagow, there to puff some Tory councillor defections but not able the remember their names or which wards they represented. Farage pandering to Agent Orange as per. And Cummings stirring the pot. Just the usual noise and no substance.

Meantime, in the land of grown ups, Labour are getting to grips with the benefits issue. Thanks for your posts on that. A reminder of what Reform said about that: In the first 100 days they would: Motivate up to 2 million people back to work. Oh so easy meaningless waffle.

glad you appreciate the posts, its hard to get an informed discussion...... after all so much information and reading a Green Paper is not popular...

Reform UK defends asking branch officials to sign non-disclosure agreements

"Reform UK asks it branch officials, like chairs, secretaries and treasurers, to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), Genevieve Holl-Allen reveals in a story for the Daily Telegraph.

She says at the last election parliamentary candidates were also asked to sign NDAs. And she says some council candidates have been asked to sign NDAs ahead of the May elections, although the party has indicated that happened by mistake and it says council candidates are not subject to gagging orders.

In her story, Holl-Allen reports:

The practice is unusual – neither the Conservatives, Labour nor the Liberal Democrats use NDAs for branch officials or candidates …

In a copy of the NDA, seen by The Telegraph, branch members are prohibited from divulging private information about the “activities, communication and electoral functions” of the party.

The document terms are drawn up so widely that they could leave individuals open to legal attack for divulging information such as what goes on at private meetings or details of the party leadership

The NDA said it covered all confidential information relating to “all activities, communication, and electoral functions with the intention of using it primarily for the broad purpose of our political, campaigning and fundraising activities”.
In a statement to the party, Reform UK defended the policy. A spokesperson said:

Reform UK are committed to the highest standards of data security. Like any professional organisation, we expect those responsible for managing large amounts of member and candidate personal information to keep it secure"

In this bizarre move, it gives Party directors more power to control a narrative and silence dissent - or revelations to damage an already damaged narrative of an undemocratic "party".

In fact its acting just like the large private company it is trying to force employers to keep "company secrets

I spent some time reading the Wikipedia account of Nigel Farage's political career, and it is just fallout after fallout after fallout with whatever political association he is in at the time. He also has a nasty habit of digging up dirt about people's past misdemeanours and exposing them in Parliament or in a very public attack.
I cannot see him leading any form of political party successfully ever. but I think some highly unsuitable candidates may be elected in by -elections and cause yet more trouble, before the whole thing implodes.

NF is in America again fundraising for Trump.

Nigel Farage is once again in America helping to fundraise for Donald Trump’s Republican party, with the latest data showing he has spent more than 800 hours on outside employment since being elected.

The Reform UK leader is appearing on Thursday night to give a keynote speech at a fundraiser for Florida Republicans’ “Disruptors” dinner, with tables for top-tier “Trump sponsors” costing $25,000 (£19,000).

Before his appearance, he was absent from prime minister’s questions on Wednesday, and he did not appear in the Commons on Thursday.

When he said the "Reputation of the party must be protected" I didn't realise he meant the Republican Party.

Casdon Thu 20-Mar-25 21:54:49

It really is all kicking off today, here is Rupert Lowe’s response.

I read the first one earlier, thanks for the response.

Disgusted as ever by Farage's US trips. The "disruptor" title however is a real giveaway as to one of the main intentions of the far right - this nation that society has to be actually broken down, instead of fought on policy basis.

All the conspiracy theories about disrupting the Global Agendas and building the New World Order.

(if you haven't heard of this, here it is)

Wyllow3 Thu 20-Mar-25 22:36:08

this notion not this nation

Silverbrooks Thu 20-Mar-25 22:53:00

this notion that society has to be actually broken down …

I suspect the reason for the NDAs is because if people knew what Reform was really up to, which is to destroy the UK economy and currency and outsource it to crypto, they might think again about voting for these evil men.

I don’t really care about the Farage/Lowe fracas. They are both despicable. The thing Lowe is right about is that Farage should never be PM. It won't happen under Reform but it could if the Tories form an alliance as Tory Greg Smith has been suggesting they should.

Wyllow3 Fri 21-Mar-25 00:58:13

The Tories are really struggling, which I regret because I want an opposition that works within our democratic framework , which, despite all our grumbles, we only have to look at the USA to feel grateful. Lots to do to make it better, but not the Disruption Project.

Churchview Fri 21-Mar-25 09:06:50

I'm old enough to remember a time when disruptors were considered a bloody nuisance to be avoided.

Imagine paying thousands of pounds to sit at a dinner with that lot. You've just cottoned on that everyone around the table is a pound shop Elon Musk then Farage puts the tin lid on it by getting on his hind feet and drivelling. Head in hands you wish you'd stayed home and stuck pins in your ears.

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 21-Mar-25 12:53:08

Well, * Churchview * you could be fairly confident that Mr Farage's speech will not feature extensive coverage of his work for the people whose constituency he represents, and for whom he draws his parliamentary allowance of £90K +. It is my understanding that he does not hold surgeries, and has not spoken about them in the House of Commons, but has spent a fair amount of his time in the USA and in the studios of GB " news".
Perhaps he has a store of witty jokes to share.

Wyllow3 Fri 21-Mar-25 13:27:40

A number of Conservative Councillors have switched to Reform and they are expected to do well in forthcoming elections, yet real chaos reigns at the top and we have as far as I know no current manifesto.

Curious.
