No, it’s nothing like Trump is doing at all. The functions of NHS England won’t be abolished, what this effectively does is remove a tier in the NHS control structure.

Reducing bureaucracy is a big step in the right direction. However, this is just one to go but Sir Keir has been setting up quangos since gaining power last year.

The way I read it, it won’t affect cross border healthcare arrangements, as the responsibility for decision making is devolved to local level. However, NHS England is responsible currently for producing the English NHS guidance on all manner of issues, I assume that function will be returned to the Department of Health?

The discussion got caught up in the general "quango" thread, which is a shame as its very specific.

I didn't vote for Labour but I have to say that Sir Keir Starmer is doing a pretty good job at the moment.
Having worked for the NHS for the last 17 years of my working life it was glaringly obvious that the NHS, a wonderful organisation, if manged properly, was in crisis and this was pre-Covid. Various Governments have talked endlessly about the NHS but do nothing. It is crying out for reform and culling the admin staff which have grown at an alarming rate over the years is the place to start.
Keep going, Sir Keir. You may actually grow on me.
