I think there may be some confusion between the difference between famous and infamous.

Indeed.

"It is estimated that during his 36 years of rule over England he executed up to 57,000 people, many of whom were either members of the clergy or ordinary citizens and nobles who had taken part in uprisings and protests up and down the country."

No, not entirely popular.

Isn’t that Tudor king the one we remember the most? The most popular? Theatre productions, films, novels? Songs?

Trump reminds me of Henry the eighth, the narcissism, the bullying, the brutality, and of course the absolute need to surround himself with sycophants.

Yes! He’s just like him!

He's on his third wife too.

History is littered with Kings who believed literally they had The Divine Right.

Charles 1st was a staunch believer in the divine right of kings, believing that only God had the right to judge him for his actions and that parliament shouldn’t interfere with how he chose to rule.

It didn't end well....

My ds has lived in the US for over 20 years. He reckons that Trump has a deep-seated yearning to be a part of the royal family so his monarchical regime is not a surprise.

I thought the War of Independence was to break free of a Parliament far away and, more importantly, to get away from Monarchy.
Now the US is in the tyrannical grip of HRH King Donald.
How did that happen?
