Happy? Indifferent? Annoyed?
I’ve been out and haven’t caught up on the main tenets yet.
Back later.

I think her hair, lipstick & clothes is the least of her problems- I think she has aged since she took that job on.
As for £500 better off, where has she plucked that from & not according to our lastest energy, water, council tax bills & hiking up food prices in the supermarkets - I feel so sorry for families

How can a government make plans when the department that supplies all government with the figures they need keep getting the figures wrong. That would be the ONS.

My expectations were for a Statement like this one. We've recently just had the proposals for changes to NHS and the Green Paper on Benefits plenty to go on with. And the changes to NI start in early April so have to see how they go.

Perhaps their bluff should be called! The argument that we can’t tax the rich so we’ll get money from the poor is too unpalatable.

Ilovecheese

She is reducing the quality of life for a lot of sick and disabled people, to preserve her reputation as a tough Chancellor.
She prefers to do that rather than ask the very wealthy for a contribution.
She has assumed that the very wealthy would not want to help the country.

I've always wanted to tax the very wealthy more, but as soon as it gets suggested here people say they'll leave the country..dont know if true or not.

I think it’s overshadowed by everything else that’s going on at the moment, and particularly the global uncertainty and need to re-arm to protect the UK. Whoever was in power I think they would be taking some pretty unpalatable and unpopular decisions at the moment.

My thoughts too. ?? on tariffs as well - unpredictable as is the Ukraine.

I think her hairs ok !

She didn't cut the MPs ridiculous salary of 94 thousand plus extras Isn't that a difficult decision she could have chosen to make They don't even have to proof they are doing anything or how many hours they work like ordinary working people

I’m just not sure I too like her hair!

I can't bear to hear her voice tbh but she has got nice hair.

There was this:

Savers face fresh tax threat as Reeves plans £1bn crackdown.
Chancellor prepares to give HMRC greater snooping powers to rout out avoidance.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 27-Mar-25 18:18:55

Even if it were true, it is £10 a week. Easily swallowed up in increased food and energy prices. 🤔

rosie1959 Thu 27-Mar-25 18:17:37

Well she certainly is not afraid to make herself unpopular. My main worry is she is totally out of her depth

The Telegraph said this:

“The OBR say today that people will be, on average, over £500 a year better off under this Labour government,” Chancellor Rachel Reeves asserted at the dispatch box during her Spring Statement this week.

But the Office for Budget Responsibility’s outlook report, published before she had finished speaking, contained no words to that effect.

The Treasury’s independent forecaster also confirmed as much, telling The Telegraph it had no involvement in the calculation of the figure.

Indeed, the claim will have come as a surprise to many who have watched as growth forecasts have been slashed since the Chancellor took office last year and launched a £40bn tax raid in her maiden Budget in October.

In the wake of the Spring Statement, the Resolution Foundation, a Left-leaning living standards think tank, also said that, in fact, lower-income households were in fact about to become £500 worse off over this Parliament.”

What’s the difference between a Statement and a Budget?

Her hair looked nice.

Ps her hair always looks nice!
I bet she just washes it and leaves it envy

Her hair looked nice.

I'm sure that's my old trouser suit, but it can't be, I sent it to a charity shop umpteen years ago.
If I'd known it would come back into fashion, I'd have kept it.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 27-Mar-25 17:51:24

I cannot see this government reaching its growth targets.

Their own impact statement on welfare cuts will put upwards of 50,000 children into poverty, not good optics for any government, let alone a Labour one.

I would be interested to know how and where they are going to train/up-skill 60,000+ tradesman needed in the building industry as she stated.

Unfortunately POTUS Trump along with the ongoing war in Ukraine is going to be their bete noir, just as Covid was for the previous cohort

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 27-Mar-25 17:41:18

😁 and her red lipstick suits her. I also liked her black top with the zip front.
However ….

The Mail on line doesn’t seem to have an article on it!
Harry resigning from his charity Sentebale.
The holiday submarine disaster in the Red Sea.
Is Putin dying - as Zelensky says?

Nothing on Rachel Reeves! Bizarre.
I’ll check The Telegraph…

Allira Thu 27-Mar-25 17:27:32

Indifference seems to be the main reaction! 😁
