Yes, if the consumer continues to buy the same products, the objective is to persuade them to buy US made products. $6 trillion is a lot of money even on the US scale, it goes straight into the federal bank balance.

The tariffs on the UK seem as predicted, 10% on a Bentley or bottle of Scotch isn’t going to deter many customers. EU was much harder hit, together with much higher defence spending they will have a hard time balancing the books.

Trade Tarriff are highly complex and hard to quantify, if the changes are “reciprocal,” many countries were very restrictive, I know India had very high tarrifs on imports. The US was a soft touch - until now.

I heard that as well as the 10% imposed on UK goods there will be 25% on all cars imported to USA from UK.

We were warned it was coming, compared to other countries/trading blocks we have got off lightly

Trump isn't charging us 10%. He's charging American consumers 10% to import from the UK. And vice versa. There's a difference!

When mistakes like this are made, it's no wonder the MAGA voters think they're going to get rich. They're the ones who will be paying the tariffs.

I think what he has done is quite fair.
A lot of countries are being charged half the amount of tariffs they impose on the US.

Ours though is a reciprocal amount which is a shame, but he was elected on his pledge to put his country first, and that’s what he seems to be doing.
