It rather suggests that the Reform parties vetting process is inadequate and flawed. Surely a vetting process should have means of checking on what a candidate doesn't tell you about themselves as well as what they do.

Farage paid a vetting company £144,000 to vet candidates before the last election and was suing them because they didn’t complete the job in time.

Excuse the language here, but I saw a sticker on the back of a builder's van this week.

Can we fix it? No it's f***ed.

It made me laugh at the time but seems very apt now Farage has adopted the catchphrase.

I think it's more of nod to Bob the Builder character Scoop - who was the leader of Bob's crew of construction machines.

Farage and Tory peer and notorious tax avoider Tony Bamford are mates but it's an unfortunate choice of phrase. But then we know that Farage will try to capitalise on any publicity, good or bad.

As the picture facility seems to have gone again you’ll have to take my word for Nige’s latest podium slogan

“ REFORM WILL FIX IT”

Not the only Savile reference it seems- and not the best campaign slogan, eh guys and gals?

Remember who is vetting them (was on previous thread)
www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/mar/16/reform-uk-candidate-who-praised-hitler-and-assad-put-in-charge-of-vetting

"Reform UK candidate who praised Hitler and Assad put in charge of vetting
Jack Aaron, whose past comments on controversial leaders led to widespread criticism, is now overseeing candidate selection"

Trouble is, its likely that many Reform voters will probably only be aware in Stephen Hartley's actual local constituency as he is still printed on the list of candidates but withdrawn.

The more you read this man's posts the worse it gets.

He's pro Putin and thinks he and Saville were 'scapegoated' and the accusations about them were made up lies.

He said Saville's victims wouldn't pass as credible witnesses.

The awful thing is that he will appeal to many similar thinking voters.. he sounds absolutely appalling..

If this is how is mind works he sounds a very unsavoury person himself.

Good grief: is there no barrel this " party " will not scrape?
At least action has been taken.

Reform may hopefully implode soon
Need I say more

I cannot believe he got to be a candidate. I doubt this was the only "dodgy"aspect of his character.

He knows of the allegations.
But he doubts that they are accurate.
Strange position given the overwhelming testimony from multiple sources.

It is hard to imagine that anyone would not know about Saville’s sex crimes.

Wyllow3 Fri 04-Apr-25 22:01:03

"A Reform UK candidate has been suspended from the party after posts on social media revealed his support for serial sex abuser Jimmy Savile.
Stephen Hartley was listed as standing for Reform UK in the Banbury Hardwick ward, ahead of local elections to Oxfordshire County Council on 1 May.
In an interview with the BBC, Mr Hartley confirmed he had posted in 2022 that Savile was a "working class hero" and said he may have "forgotten" to disclose his X account to Reform UK."

"Speaking to the BBC, Mr Hartley said he had doubts over whether the allegations made by victims against Savile were true."

"The party's leader Nigel Farage said previously that candidates would be vetted ahead of the local elections"

"Mr Hartley will still appear on the ballot paper as a Reform UK candidate, as his suspension was announced after candidate lists were published."
