........er, like who?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 15-Apr-25 10:24:23

Has anyone called them "The Space Girls" yet ? 😂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 15-Apr-25 10:17:18

All that money & tech, plus materials, emissions for an 11 minute jolly. It’s what you do I suppose when you’re one of the richest men on the planet. Financial assets in the stratosphere. We can only watch such ‘fun’.

In Mae13's case l think it's to prompt provoke the maximum response. The success rate is generally high 😉

Well, it's a great subject for a thread 👩‍🚀

TheWeirdoAgain1 Tue 15-Apr-25 10:13:31

I don't really know who she is so I Googled the story, but good on her and all the other amazing ladies, they all looked great, happy and beautiful and I love their outfits!

They're helping to get more women interested in space things and into the training programs, so that's a good thing.

This in today’s Telegraph made me laugh!

FGT2 😂😂😂

I’ve heard of her, but that’s about it, no idea what she sings or anything.

She was on the News after her trip, waffling on about ‘love’ and suchlike.

hmm

Wasn't she married to Russell Brand?
Apart from that, Katy who?

I'm really not dahn wiv it these days.

Casdon

Why not? I bet it was an amazing experience, and her fare contributed to the cost of the mission. Good for her I say.

They did keep calling them 'the crew' on the news, though 😁
I hoped there was someone on board who knew what they were doing, not just pop stars etc.

There was a former NASA rocket scientist on board, Aisha Bowe along with Amanda Nguyen a bioastronautics research scientist.
Thank you, GrannyGravy, they're the ones who should be getting the publicity, women to inspire the next generation of girls, rather than pop stars.

A female relative was on the short list for space exploration. She was a nuclear scientist. Training was to become an astronaut

Katy Perry is just a person with plenty of money, someone who does not care about destroying our planet

There was a former NASA rocket scientist on board, Aisha Bowe along with Amanda Nguyen a bioastronautics research scientist.

Along with Katy Perry the other two were Lauren Sanchez, who is Jeff Bezos fiancé and Kerianne Flynn a movie producer.

If this short flight gets more girls interested in STEM good on them. Like I posted up thread their money their choice

As for destroying the planet MaizieD how about our present government offshoring the manufacture of solar panels, wind turbines along with importing coking fuel in order for them to claim they are on the way to Net Zero?

The U.K. just moving its carbon emissions around the world…

Churchview Tue 15-Apr-25 09:04:30

When I saw the headlines and photo of the women my immediate response was WOW what women these must be, what a triumph for women in STEM, brilliant role models...I'm glad I've lived long enough to see this day.

Then I read on and had the most appalling heart sink.

Also agree with MaizieD on an obscene waste of money and resources contributing to the destruction of our planet.

Children starving and one of the richest men on earth is playing with this willy waving nonsense. Reminds me of that quote, "The wrong Amazon is on fire".

MaizieD Tue 15-Apr-25 08:52:30

I feel much the same way as MOnica.
Additionally that it’s an obscene waste of money and resources contributing to the destruction of our planet.

NotAGran55 Tue 15-Apr-25 08:45:34

Well it has certainly raised the bar in the modern trend of expensive OTT hen parties.

Visgir1 Tue 15-Apr-25 08:36:22

Well if you have the money, why not?
Only lasted a short while but what an experience.

Iam64 Tue 15-Apr-25 08:27:54

The Telegraph have it right fgt

GrannyGravy13 Tue 15-Apr-25 08:27:46

M0nica Katy Perry paid for her seat on this trip the deposit alone was $150,000.

I assume the others also paid, though I doubt Jeff Bezos fiancé had to…

M0nica Tue 15-Apr-25 08:23:22

She was married to Russell Brand for a couple of years

Personally, I am not sure how I feel about one of the richest men in the world paying for 7 women, chosen for their looks and desirability, in specially designed body flattering space suits to take a short trip into the sky as the optimal hen night for his fiancee.

Speaks to me more of very rich men jockeying for position in a male pecking order, in competition with Musk et al. both on technology and being able to collect together 7 women to take the ride. A bit like a harem.

I don't know why some GN's post "who" about well known personalities, quite possibly you haven't heard of them. In this age of technology, you only have to Google their name and KP has a big enough profile to find out who she is. There is another who will go on RIP threads with that inane "who" if you don't know who the person is/was what's the point of adding that. Maybe labouring under the misapprehension to do so is being witty.
