The vast majority of UK imported chicken comes from the EU currently, but I guess there is always a risk it isn’t when you eat out.

I don’t fancy chicken from Eastern Europe or Thailand either but it’s here especially in takeaways and some restaurants. At such times I become a vegetarian. I buy free range or organic from my local farm shop with proven creditation.

Is Reform still structured as a private business rather than a political party?

* FGT* - I understood from another thread that the suppliers of this chicken are determined that it should be not be labelled.
My interest is purely hypothetical .
I haven't eaten meat or poultry foe 40 + years.
I wasn't enthusiastic about any food I ate when I did visit Florida...

All meat you buy is labelled with where it’s from in the UK though, so I don’t see that happening. I think most likely if they do start to import chicken or other meat from the USA it will be direct to trade, and sold in takeaways and restaurants. If that happens, I won’t be eating chicken when I go out, just in case.

I've just had a look at Farage X tweets and they are currently aimed at by elections. He's going for the popularity stakes by saying he will have a Minister For Deportations, but gives no details, as per, as to how it would function. Also he will sort out all local councils problems at one sweep.

Lord Alli and his donations?

Well he could have asked the unions like Labour does. What’s the problem? I don’t think there will be any rules about diets from him, either, he wouldn’t be bothered.

I think you’re wrong there, he has an opinion about absolutely everything, which he feels he must impart to the nation.

On principle we should not allow dangerous food into our country. Thats why RR made it a point in negotiations.
Its Farage cosying up to the USA.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 26-Apr-25 12:54:12

Plus, he is arguing we should accept chlorinated chicken from the US as part of trade deals

Chlorinated chicken is just semantics!

A. Most holidaymakers eat it on vacation in say, Florida without a care/thought!

B. Shoppers don’t have to buy it - it will be labelled.

Our Unions are home grown UK Brit based and officials are elected and decisions made by members. Their influence is there but limited. They dont sit as MP's.

Farage is again (as per the time we thought Musk was going to dish out $million) trying to get funding from organisations outside the UK with a specific policy agenda, its like taking money from lobbyists to push particular issues.

UK political parties imo have no business being bought out from outside the UK.

“Nick Candy, the party’s treasurer, told the FT that the party is also looking to raise funds from British expatriates who can donate in their own name as well as rich foreigners with UK businesses.”

“Reform UK, which has repeatedly questioned climate science, is soliciting donations from oil and gas executives as it bids to shore up its finances.

The Financial Times has revealed that Nigel Farage’s party is seeking to secure donations from the fossil fuel industry. The paper also reports that Reform is ‘launching a drive to raise funds from wealthy offshore donors in low-tax jurisdictions including Monaco, the United Arab Emirates and Switzerland, taking advantage of Britain’s loose funding rules to bolster its coffers’.

I must admit that I've lost a sense of "where they are at" altogether after splits and new parties and where policies are.
Although a lot of people will vote on an immigration platform, I see no solutions.
