In a win for voters, a three-judge panel with two Trump appointees ruled that Alabama’s 2023 congressional map is unconstitutional and violates the VRA, calling it “an intentional effort to dilute Black Alabamians’ voting strength.”

Racial gerrymandering has been in the republican playbook for so many years. It’s really one of the grassroot strategies they've employed for decades to build up to this moment. Trump’s first term saw more federal judges placed in these lifetime judgeships than most, if not any other president in US history. These are far right judges with many of them having documented discriminatory and lopsided records of “justice.”

So it is almost a miracle that the two Trump appointees were able to be partial and true Constitutionalists by rightfully striking down these vote-diluting maps. The depth of the white supremecist weavings in the Trump and Republican regime is scary. It’s wonderful to see there is but a small shred of integrity left in the US courts. However, these fights will go all the way to the bought and paid for US Supreme Court. These people will not stop until they have erased all gains minorities and women have made in the last few decades. Kill their voting rights, education, and healthcare and you will have what conservatives there truly want. This is the Trump regime’s ultimate goal outside of corruptly making billions from his role.

It's an example of what we need more of - Trump appointees in the judiciary saying, "enough, too far", and similar stands in other areas of public life.

The great thing is that some of them are. When you think what those who have persued justice have been subjected to it's not an easy decision.

It’s not an easy decision at all, those judges ate heroes imo. The DOJ and the courts are literally being weaponized against all jurists and attorneys who have ruffled Mr. Tiny Fingers’ feathers. To stand up to this regime and their agenda is to put yourself and your family in their crosshairs. Look at what’s happening to Tish James right now. It’s safe to say the integrity of the US legal system is as far from intact as it has been in decades. Pam Bondi is a shameful, crooked poor example of a citizen.

I do hope the grassroots organizations that focus on voting rights are encouraged by this decision to keep fighting! Let not the sit-ins and civil rights fights of the 60’s be lost!

And never to forget that when an oppressive regime decides to hit back hard, what it will do - the shocking shooting on 4 May 1970, when four students were shot dead by the National Guard during a Vietnam War protest - and two had not been taking part in the protest. There is a cultural divide which becomes clearer as time goes on.

For me it brings to mind Aung San Suu Kyi and Myanmar. Also Malala Yousafzai who stood up for education after being shot by the Taliban and the many Germans who helped others at threat to their own lives. There are good people; people with concern and care for others and for the freedom and democracy they depended on.

Gerrymandering is a large reason why most states went Red from purple.

Alabama is probably THE most racist state in the US. It is shocking what they get up to there.
