The neighbours were commenting in this morning's press, so easy to identify where he lived.

Again, well done the police for quick action - except revealing the address. Except I suppose that it would have come out and better from official source than SM poking around more speculating.

Evidential drug tests have to be sent away and tested - which can take weeks

The roadside drug tests (where they scrape your tongue) are indicative but cannot be used in evidence - in the same way that a roadside breath test cannot be used in court and they have to take the readings on the evidential machine at the police station.

So I would not read anything into the lack of drug driving charges at this stage. They can add them later when the results come in if positive.

Yes the Police have named the man but I was surprised that they also gave the road that he lived in. Surely this could be dangerous for his wife and family who presumably live there.

So if I understand the charge correctly, he deliberately drove into people with the intent of causing them serious harm.

Did he have a heart attack or something ? That sort of thing happens from time to time . I remember someone driving through a garden and into a house once because they had an attack and their foot was down on the accelerator. People panic and it can lead to all sorts of nasty things when cars are involved.

That’s very unlikely, as he would surely have had pain and/or symptoms, and medical needs are dealt with before criminal. He’s been in custody for several days, and he’s obviously been tested for drugs and alcohol.

We had a relative who was perfectly fit, driving on holiday but had a heart attack at the wheel. Luckily no-one else was injured. Another friend died recently and unexpectedly from a heart attack without any previous symptoms.

I meant after the event Allira. If he had had a heart attack, his heart would not have returned to a normal rhythm immediately afterwards, he would have received a medical check - so in this case, it’s unlikely that was the cause.

Although had it been (which it presumably was not), he may not have had symptoms previously.

It was clean, no rubbish, green spaces and reflected our town in that period. It was wealthy, factories, engineering, manufacturing and many jobs in commerce or retail.
The comments below included many racist comments, blaming the number of immigrants for all that has gone wrong. We have beggars, homeless people, drug/alcohol users etc. there’s no analysis of how things have deteriorated, it makes depressing reading.

FB algorithms will - based on your search / click history - suggest similar groups to those you've looked at - and it's within these groups that the racist posts can appear...

I know there are no excuses for what he did but I can’t help but feel that he made a split second decision to follow the ambulance and then panicked. Don’t they say that accidents are usually the result of several unlikely events. My first reaction when I heard what had happened was that it wasn’t terrorism but road rage, and I now think that it was road panic. I honestly don’t think that this is a bad person who did something bad but someone who got caught up in a series of events and is feeling absolutely awful about what he did. Again I must point out that I’m not defending what he did and I can’t even begin to say how heartbreaking it is that those poor people were injured.

You’re absolutely right Wyllow3 and I don’t think there are excuses just possible explanations for what happened.It shouldn’t be too long before he is charged with something.
I do feel sorry for his wife/partner and three children, as well as those injured.

Apart from comments like that, sometimes you can click on sites called something like "Beautiful Beaches" or "Cute Puppies", which have been deliberately set up by people with ulterior motives (such as racism) to lure people. The Facebook algorithm then remembers you and sends you more blatantly racist posts. Some people realise what's going on and block them; others might think "yes, they've got a point - it is difficult to get a GP appointment or a school place" and they read on. The site owners then know they have a captive audience. However, as you write, some totally innocent sites are used as an outlet for racist comments.
