What do you think happened to make her slap her husband as they got off the plane?
My opinion: he told the crew to open the door before she had put her wig on !
She had probably taken it off to sleep it is a long flight to Hanoi and had woken up grumpy ?🙄 and lost her cool at being rushed.
He did not look happy at all clenched fist as they walked away from the plane.

Who are “they” ?
Do you mean you?
Or are you just happy to spread scurrilous gossip?

There has been considerable speculation for years about that very subject. Scurrilous gossip it may well be, but it's been all over the internet for years.

So let’s spread it a bit more shall we?

I expected better on Gransnet.

The age gap is about the same between Boris Johnson and his third wife, yet that hardly gets a mention let alone an eyebrow raise. Indeed people on here gush about their family.

That’s because it’s still accepted that older men have younger wives/girlfriends, whereas a woman with a chap 20 or so years younger than herself still looks like she’s out with her son.

Not PC, but true.

Plus we have not seen photos of Carrie giving Boris a slap, not in public anyhow.

Galaxy Wed 28-May-25 07:48:41

Carrie wasn't 15 and Boris wasn't her teacher.

Indeed, vegansrock, because for many people it's family that makes things more respectable, or more acceptable.

If you read around the books on Brigitte's and Emmanuel's earlier years, it was the decision of Macron's mother to send him away to Paris in order to bring closure on their relationship. The reason being, that his mother knew Brigitte would be very unlikely to bear him a child, and that might impede him in his future career.

As it turned out, the mother was wrong on that one.

foxie48 Wed 28-May-25 07:50:18

People fall in love for all sorts of reasons. A previous work colleague was in a relationship with someone over 20 years her junior, they're still together, she's in her 80s and he's utterly devoted to her. I've no idea what happened to Macron and his wife and no one on this forum does either.

Mr and Mrs Johnson didn’t meet when he was 39 and teaching a 15 year old Carrie. The power imbalance is obvious. There are good reasons why teachers who seduce adolescents are prosecuted.
Mr and Mrs Macron’s relationship has endured. I do not believe this is the first time slapping/pushing has occurred.

Where did I say that? I'm just pointing out that that 'gossip' has been circulating widely on social media for some time now, so it's not something any poster on GN has suddenly invented.

I think she’s really out of order. No excuse at all ever for violence.

What an unpleasant post 62Granny

Absolutely, who cares anyway, whatever happened was between them and none of our business.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 28-May-25 08:52:43

It isn’t any of our business, just as Prince Harry and his wife, the Beckham family, Boris Johnson and other celebrities are none of our business, but they are all in the public eye and a bit of gossip is the lifeblood of many and GN is no different.

Galaxy Wed 28-May-25 08:53:50

I think saying hitting a partner isn't our business is one of the reasons that kind of thing endures.

What can you do about it ?

TerriBull Wed 28-May-25 09:00:12

Maybe it just raises the subject of female violence towards a male partner, admittedly far less common than the other way round, but men, because of shame possibly appear more reluctant to talk about it. We can't know what precipitated what took place, and and such can't know the full details, hence the speculation. All the same embarrassing for him.

Hear hear.
I warned my DH if he ever did that sort of thing to me, he would get one more chance and that would be it. A third time and we would separate.
I wouldnt put up with that.

TheWeirdoAgain1 Wed 28-May-25 09:06:51

I fully admit to being guilty of laughing when I saw the video but really I shouldn't have laughed!

As a female saying this, if Mr Macaroni had hit Mrs Macaroni he'd have probably been arrested for some sort of wife beating/domestic abuse!

I think they should keep their domestics out of the public eye because in public it could damage their reputation, which is awkward at the best of times!

I know someone who reported a domestic to the Police.
He had heard what he thought was the woman getting beaten up a bit a few times, and decided to take action.

There is absolutely no way there would be any exression of sympathy of her behaviours if she was a man.

The writer was sad that the slapper was under scrutiny, and empathising with her. Well if she hadn't slapped her husband she wouldn't be. There would have been absolute outrage on here if he'd slapped her, not empathy as the writer showed for this woman.

Casdon Wed 28-May-25 09:22:38

The first thing I thought was that she might be suffering from dementia, which can result in violent attacks as a result of frustration.

Thank you Iam64. I have no idea why people think it is OK. A teacher at our local school was recently banned from teaching due to a relationship with a pupil older than this case.

France though innit?😁🤷🏻‍♀️

Maybe read this Mt61 and Vice versa and do some research. Maybe engage brain cell before spreading misinformation.
