What do you think happened to make her slap her husband as they got off the plane?
My opinion: he told the crew to open the door before she had put her wig on !
She had probably taken it off to sleep it is a long flight to Hanoi and had woken up grumpy ?🙄 and lost her cool at being rushed.
He did not look happy at all clenched fist as they walked away from the plane.

Sorry I we now saying that it us OK for teachers to have relationships with 15 year olds as long as they stay together.

Galaxy Wed 28-May-25 14:51:29

Sorry terrible typos but presumably the point is clear.

I didn’t say that, if that’s what you were inferring Galaxy. I just don’t see any point raking over something that wasn’t an offence under French law when it happened over 30 years ago - if indeed anything sexual did happen when Macron was a minor, which we don’t know. Applying our own views to this is fine, but judging people by them is pointless when we have absolutely no jurisdiction.

foxie48 Wed 28-May-25 14:57:53

Well I didn't say that I asked if there is evidence of a sexual relationship and it seems there isn't. It's not against the law to fall in love with a much younger person what is illegal is acting upon it and there's no evidence they did.

Galaxy Wed 28-May-25 14:59:10

The whole of GN would grind to a halt if we only commented on people over whom we have jurisdiction. I do judge teachers who have relationships with pupils and I judge those who hit their partner in the face.

I won't doubt you if you have categorical evidence that it wasn't an offence under French law at the time, Casdon, but are you aware of the Gabrielle Russier very similar case, around 1968, I think? She was given a prison sentence. Her pupil was 16 years old for the same offence.

We'll never know and I don't want to, their business. Life carried out in the public eye must be very difficult without all the speculation.

Cateq Wed 28-May-25 15:32:06

Given the recent court cases in France about rape etc I’m sure the French people have greater concerns than the state of the Macron’s marriage. The lack of information on the current case of the doctor who abused children in his care and the cover up by the establishment must be a concern to the French public, such as who knew what he was doing, why no action was taken when it was brought to their attention needs answered. I just wonder if the same thing could’ve or is hating British hospitals just now.

Cateq Wed 28-May-25 15:35:41

Sorry I’ve just seen that the surgeon has been sentenced to 20 years in jail after pleading guilty to to 299 charges of child sex abuse. Given the fact he’s 74 I hope he remains behind bars for the rest of his natural life.

Rosie51 Wed 28-May-25 15:43:20

Teachers and pupils having relationships is wrong because of the power imbalance even without the large age differences. A 39/40 year old woman 'falling in love' with her 15 year old pupil should raise concerns. Her eldest child, a son, was only two years older. Can anyone here say they fell in love with one of their 15 year old teenage son's friends, or felt any sexual attraction to them?
I'll contrast that with the disgusted criticism of Prince Andrew for allegedly having sex with a young girl in the same age bracket as his own daughters.

This article by Brigette's youngest daughter is interesting. It is in English.

I know you do Galaxy. To be clear, I’m not seeking to exonerate either of the Macrons for anything, but nor am I seeking to make up malign motives for either of them and their actions - it just seems to me that in the absence of any hard information about this particular situation, a number of people are doing that- just gossiping.

Amazing & a bully, by the looks of things!

I agree with what you commented Rosie51 and thanks for the interesting article too.😃

Allira Wed 28-May-25 16:19:48

Thank you Rosie51, an interesting article.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of their early relationship (and I agree it was wrong), their relationship has stood the test of time and I do hope that Brigitte is not unwell now.

Any speculation about her gender is just spurious speculation, she was a married mother of three children when she met Macron.

Rosie51 Wed 28-May-25 16:39:28

Allira the speculation that Brigette is a biological man is so ridiculous but the same ridiculous allegations are made about Michelle Obama too, some people need a different hobby!

Similar speculation about Lady Gaga too - trolls just start these rumours for clickbait.

Rosie51 Wed 28-May-25 16:46:23

I hadn't heard about Lady Gaga, I suppose any successful woman is a target for them, sad that their lives are so empty that starting vicious rumours is what passes for excitement. It must be so hurtful nevertheless for the victims, their family and friends to read these posts. As confirmed in the article by Brigette's daughter.

Mt61 Wed 28-May-25 17:52:47

I’ve never believed lady GaGa, or Michelle were men, now it’s being said about BM 🙄

FranP Wed 28-May-25 18:10:13

My guess is that he deserved it

Rosie51 Wed 28-May-25 18:27:26

Goodness me! Would you have said the same if the slap was the other way round?

Sealady Wed 28-May-25 19:03:03

Allsorts

If it were a man slapping it would be assault, just saying.,

Absolutely. It's not funny and nor should it be

I Don’t see comments from many as gossip. Yes the daft internet rumours about Madame M don’t become less daft by being repeated

Discussing the clear photographs of Madame M pushing her husband’s face and his reaction isn’t gossip in my view. It’s a discussion about a woman behaving aggressively towards her husband.

It’s never acceptable. It doesn’t matter who they are, domestic abuse is unacceptable. As is a 39 year old teacher starting a relationship with her 15 year old pupil
