What do you think happened to make her slap her husband as they got off the plane?
My opinion: he told the crew to open the door before she had put her wig on !
She had probably taken it off to sleep it is a long flight to Hanoi and had woken up grumpy ?🙄 and lost her cool at being rushed.
He did not look happy at all clenched fist as they walked away from the plane.

He looked very shocked.

Not a joke or play fighting, certainly.

Yes he did look shocked

He’s 47 and she’s 72!
I remember reading some years back that they met at school when he was 15 and Brigitte was his 39 year old teacher.

I bet their relationship raised eyebrows!

Here it would, but not in France😄

Honestly, I really don't care, so much more to worry about. I am uncomfortable with the teacher pupil relationship, but that was quite a few years ago.
Its natural for people to discuss/ gossip about this but it will die down soon. I don't think I even find this interesting given what's going on elsewhere.

I haven't ever hit dh in the face, I am absolutely not a saint. If he hit me in the face I hope I would leave him.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 27-May-25 20:28:58

Iam64 yes, if it was an older man and he had slapped/punched his younger wife there would have been a media frenzy.

Also the teacher/pupil dynamic would have been questioned.

Iam64 Tue 27-May-25 20:26:31

Apologies for typos. Predictive text changed Paris Match who knows why.

Thanks Galaxy, the way this relationship began is of concern. I read his parents initially thought his relationship was with her daughter.

Ilovedogs22 Tue 27-May-25 20:25:52

When I said poor Brigitte I meant for her to be so publicly shamed.
None of us are Saints I'm sure???
🙄

Kate1949 Tue 27-May-25 20:24:27

Why do you think she wears a wig?

Galaxy Tue 27-May-25 20:23:27

Thank you Iam64. I have no idea why people think it is OK. A teacher at our local school was recently banned from teaching due to a relationship with a pupil older than this case.

Iam64 Tue 27-May-25 20:18:41

They met in 1993 when he was 15 and she 39, married with 3 children. He was a classmate of her daughters, she was a school teacher, his drama teacher. The worked on a play together and it’s suggested began a relationship. She told Pari March thar Macron promised to marry her when he was 17.
She divorced in 2006 and they married a year later.

The age discrepancy, the fact she was in a position of authority raised concerns. It’s obviously often questioned how much more controversial it would have been had the teacher a wi year old man and the 15 year old a female.

As for the face hitting incidents- again, reverse the roles and find it acceptable - Not

Allsorts Tue 27-May-25 20:10:12

If it were a man slapping it would be assault, just saying.,

ViceVersa Tue 27-May-25 20:02:49

I bet there would be a lot more than just raised eyebrows if the age gap had been the other way around!

Ilovedogs22 Tue 27-May-25 20:01:49

Even we! So flustered by Granetters
I can't ruddy spell! 😶

Galaxy Tue 27-May-25 19:59:10

There is absolutely no way there would be any exression of sympathy of her behaviours if she was a man.

Poor Brigitte, how awful to have your life publicly disected the world over!
It's hard enough being a woman without being under that level of scrutiny! 🤨

Now what would you say if it was the other way around. Poor man etc. Bet you think its OK for a woman to do the slapping.

Ilovedogs22 Tue 27-May-25 19:58:46

My mistake Grans I though she was a newbie!!
Oh well, she'll know what a bunch of argumentative harpies were can be then. 🤗

62Granny, Welcome.
Don't take any criticism too
much to heart please.
We all bicker on here from time to time & some days are worse than others!!! Particularly if someone has a bee in their belligerent bonnet!
Stick with us we don't bite!
At least not too often.🤭

Why the welcome 62Granny has been a member for some time. Im sure it’s not the first time she’s seen a bit of bickering

Brigitte’s eldest child is three years older than President Macron.

There are so many conspiracy theories on SM regarding BM, I feel for her.

Repeating gossip elsewhere on social media is pretty low though. Bad manners too to not even get her name right - Brigitte as pointed out upthread

It was meant more tongue in cheek tbh I don't think it is any more nasty than some of the other ones on GN. More an observation of what is trending in the media.
