Good news for our car industry. Toyota has announced it will shift some production from Japan to the UK. It will take advantage of unused capacity here - not related to Trump's tariffs, although the work that moves to Britain will be to produce cars for the North American market so our deal to reduce tariffs on cars will certainly help if we can keep it in place or reduce it further.
The new investment should be coming next year. According to Reuters this will help maintain jobs in the car industry, which has been badly hit by both Brexit and Covid. It will not just secure existing jobs, it will create new ones as well. Good news for everyone but Reform, it seems.
