Its slightly bizarre writing now as by co-incidence I have just been watching "Misbehaviour" on Netflix which is about the women demonstrating against the cattle market of the now historical landmark Miss World Competition of 1970 (Highly recommended).

I took the Google map man for a walk. It was easy to identify the hedge as part of a property called Friars Mead, Barnet Lane, WD6 3RA.

It belongs to Andrew Perloff, property millionaire, a former Tory then UKIP and Reform donor.

Well, that came after two other cow related remarks that did strike me as quite aggressive as the subject matter is cow as insult to women

Given the subject - women politicians singled out, cows for the slaughter, by the third remark on cows I certainly felt it had got to a very weird place.

I didn't notice David saying anything about women either, but I did feel he minimises the threatening tone here, which may be nore noticeable to women than to him, as the people portrayed were female political figures. "Cow" is only part of the mixture. There is also the abbatoir, where cows are driven toward mass slaughter without such preliminaries as breaking laws, being charged with committing crimes, tried, and convicted. Just "They are cows, kill 'em."

It’s the abbatoir thing that’s crass and something only Reform would do out of all the political parties ,which I believe the reason for is that they don’t have good enough candidates with the right sort of political skills to know what’s going to play well and what won’t.

Not just a male insult, no, but still an insult. When combined with cattle and abbatoir slaughter connections and undertones of death sentences, and when Reform aligns itself so obviously with the ethos of MAGAdom, it has an intimidating feel to it.

I know several women who call others a silly cow behind their backs.

I didn’t notice David49 saying anything at all against women.

If a woman can say what she thinks then so can a man without anyone just saying ‘ mansplaining’ ! It’s a way of shutting out a comment from a man and it’s not on.

Trump IS much worse than any of our homegrown politicians, but I don't like the (many) comments, mainly by US inhabitants, that someone should shoot him. Civilised countries change their political leaders and department heads by bloodless and legal methods, not by killing them, whether by bullet, gallows, poison or by driving them into an abbatoir to their deaths - and the mental image of cows being driven into an abbatoir has several layers of nastiness.

One of those layers is the memory of Jews being herded into gas chambers for the crime of being different, in their case racially and by religion. In the case of these women in high government positions they are different in belonging to a different political party and by being women in government. Reform is following in MAGA's footsteps in their treatment of both of those. If Farage cannot or will not control this level of abuse, he will not be in control of his adherents if ever they do get into a position of power in the government of this country.

It is interesting that to call a man a bull, a stallion, top dog, etc has an element of admiration to it. Calling a woman a mare, a cow, a sow, a cat, a bitch, is definitely abuse - and not such mild abuse as David seems to think it. To a female ear, there is no undertone of admiration in any of them.

Mansplaining is men telling women things that they already know- either because they are women or because they have professional expertise in the area under discussion. So a man telling women about period pain or explaining the offside rule to Alisha Lehman.

It is not about simply expressing an opinion. It is assuming that men know more than women on every subject. In this case, it is mansplaining to tell women that being called a cow is not offensive to the female sex, and a woman disagreeing with that is not womansplaining (if such a word exists) - it is disagreeing.

Of course David doesn't understand the depth of feeling about these female politicians being called cows and suggesting they are past their best and heading for slaughter. He is a man and is approaching this from a male centred point of view. It is obvious from his comments that he really doesn't get it

Trump and Johnson have been called much worse, in any case the reference to cows is probably more often used by a woman as a mild insult to another woman, calling police “pigs” is commonplace, male or female.

Every sensible person agrees that Reforms comment was offensive, but as far as I know was not a criminal offence, it comes with the job many will get abuse face to face or online you have to shrug it off.
