That’s actually quite cheap when you take into account wages of those involved. I sometimes think there is a place for powerful water canons but I suppose they might hurt the little darlings.

It did occur that £58.000 might be better to go towards catching people smugglers.

It was actually on the "Manchester Police" series, which is very good as it shows the huge variety of dramatic work they do - RTA's, suicide threats, bad pub fights, cannabis houses, domestic violence..

Anyway just 20 violent demonstrators from the English Defence League cost the police £58.000 to be contained.

And I bet they grumble about taxes and how the country is going to the dogs "because of Muslims".
