No, we don’t know why. Some say a row with Lindsay Hoyle, others with Starmer. That is speculation but it’s not to say she was crying. She was. In my view it should never have happened. What does it say about Labour that they allowed this woman to appear, beamed all round the UK and the world, crying. Can you see Trump allowing this? Or anywhere else. She’s clearly under immense strain and the employer has a duty of care towards her. It’s shameful.

I’ve just seen this on bbc news. I don’t like her policies but she should have been excused from appearing. It benefits nobody to see this woman crying on the front bench. Somebody somewhere should have taken her to one side and let her skip the session. Duty of care.

Totally agree, the poor woman, not a good look for a caring government.

He’s not an MP though, so it would be a big gamble for him to give up the job (and power that goes with it) that he does well now, stand as an MP, uproot his family, then for Sir Keir to resign, and him to top the leadership contest against other candidates. It doesn’t seem a likely scenario. If we’re talking previous ministers, I’d prefer David Milliband who was the one that got away I think.

There was no rebellion- the government won the vote and that's the end of it until next time which is probably today if the media are to be believed...

Labour won the vote but only because of last minute concessions which rendered Starmer's welfare cuts legislation pointless.
Rachel Reeves had clearly spent a sleepless night worrying herself sick about how will compensate for the £4.5billion lost by concessions to back-benchers with no understanding of the seriousness of the situation, made 90 minutes before the final vote.

Exactly, who would be better? Theres nobody out there, anywhere. All are poor and I can’t think of any outstanding leadership candidates in any party. I won’t be voting for Kemi Badenoch that’s for sure.

As yet, we don’t know why. I can think of no other politician crying on the front bench whatever the reason. If she’s having some sort of breakdown then she should be off sick until she has recovered. I do think she looks worlds away from when she was in opposition. Be careful what you wish for perhaps. She is a human being, stressed beyond belief and a hate figure. Not easy to deal with.

Oh yes. Headlines in the tabloids the next day ‘Starmer says Reeves has to Go’. No one knows if Reeves will remain in the post; Starmer was wise not to answer it. Especially as, if she does eventually go, it will be branded as another u turn, When the Conservatives were still in power but the cabinet was changing almost on a daily basis; if that was classed as U-turns can anyone tell me how many that would have been?

Meanwhile recently elected Reformers are leaking from the posts they have been elected to and no one blinks an eyelid...
