Chocolatelovinggran....I don't know all the Reform candidates personally so can't comment on that but my point is Reform 14% of the vote =5 MPs... LD 11%of the vote 71 MPs.

*Reform MP James McMurdock - resigned the whip*

Doesn’t matter.
The point stands.
You’d think Reform were the only party to ever have anyone kicked out.
Far from it as you all know.
How many ‘controversies’ was Peter Mandelson involved in?
I don’t get what you mean Kandinsky, as there’s virtually always a thread on Gransnet when an MP loses the whip, including when Diane Abbott did- just search?
Trying to obfuscate because this thread is about a Reform MP won’t work.
Dorisdodar, and considering the quality of the candidates, that's surprising.
If you look at the share of the vote for Reform compared to the LD you will see more people voted for Reform in the GE.

The difference is: mandelson is a slippery character who knows where all the bodies are buried. Allegedly 😉

Where does Tice get his money from?
Mostly commercial property but dips in and out of business ventures.

Weren’t we talking about the amount of attention Reform get from the media despite having just four MPs.

Pretty sure Diane Abbott was suspended from the Labour Party not too long ago.
There aren't many parties where 33% of the MPs have lost the whip.

They've only got 4 MPs now that McMurdock has lost the whip. Rupert Lowe also lost the whip.

I too am sick of Reform being given a platform in the media that its numbers do not merit. I really hope that the British public are not being led to believe that tiny Reform is the way forward to the detriment of other small parties. Who would be behind that sort of manipulation?
The vast majority of UK media (print and broadcast) is owned by a small handful of billionaire moguls / oligarchs.
It’s in their interests to manipulate media output to promote the right wing, millionaire supporting Reform.
They would do very nicely with Mr Farage leading the country!

Totally agree Grandmabatty and Maybee.
The UK is a democracy and the Lib Dems have far more representatives in the HoC than Reform.
Yet the media constantly highlights Reform; gathers their opinions; interviews their (very few) MPs.
Lib Dem’s have 72 MPs they could interview🤷♀️
The media is clearly trying to create the narrative that Reform are ‘the ones to watch’. Well, maybe they’re not!
They’re a very small, minority party made up of millionaire MPs … I wonder what makes the media millionaires attracted to them🤔

I'm tired of the media hype on Reform and Farage et al when other parties such as Liberal Democrats have so many more MPs.
I agree. I even did a quick search last night to see how many LibDems MPs there were given that the media only seem to ask Farage or Tice for their opinion on everything and it was 72 or 73. Even when Reform lose the media go on about their share of the vote increasing and make it sound as though they’ve won. The LibDems have just won somewhere, beating Labour and Reform but I can’t see any headlines about it.

So Reform don’t have enough MPs for a 5-a side football team. Maybe the media could focus on those other small Parties now, such as the LibDems.
I wonder what Farage will say. I mean, he knew about the assault!
Grim, isnt it?

This is the same James McMurdock who was imprisoned for assaulting his girlfriend. Perhaps Reform would like to consider the effectiveness of their vetting system.
Reform MP James McMurdock resigned whip pending ‘business propriety’ investigation.
Allegations in Sunday Times say MP took out government loans during the Covid pandemic for businesses with no employees.
If this is true, he's out. There is no way whatsoever it would have been right, ever.
*Dont they ever do the homework at the very top level, did he really believe he could hide it?
If proved, a total disgrace.
(source, the Guardian, I'm sure it will be on other sources and headline tomorrow morning)
