I was shocked to hear this, too, given his lively performance two weeks ago. I’m not into heavy metal music but he was a character and surely the mould has been broken with his passing. Sympathies to his wife and family.

Apparently that last concert made £140 million for charity. What a lovely legacy

I've just seen this on my FB feed.

That was a shock, we knew he was ill with Parkinson's Disease but was performing not long ago. He really was unique!

The Prince of Darkness lived his life, his way, to the end. I think he did his farewell gig recently because he knew he didn’t have long.

Sharon did say there was no way he would tour again.
