I understand this new party will be called Your Party (jokes about 'It's Your Party and You'll Cry if You Want To' aside) I feel, sadly, this could be called 'Your New Up and Running Antisemitic Party'.

‘Oh Jeremy Corbyn’ 🎵 🎶 and Zarah Sultana have confirmed the launch of their new political party today!
(158 Posts)It’s up and running today. The name of the new party hasn’t been announced yet.
This just now in the Telegraph:
“The former Labour leader and his fellow now-independent MP said it was “time for a new kind of political party” in a statement today.
The pair have invited voters to sign up to the Left-wing faction via the website yourparty.uk, although The Telegraph understands the new project will not be called Your Party and that its name is to be confirmed.
It comes after Mr Corbyn told activists that the new movement would be established in time to fight Labour nationwide at the local elections in May next year.
In a joint statement, Mr Corbyn and Ms Sultana said: “It’s time for a new political party. One that belongs to you. The system is rigged.”
Well well.
It will split the Labour vote for sure. Starmer won’t be happy.

Although his mother taught in the State system 🙂

Sultana may be from Bradford but Corbyn has Islington running through him like a stick of rock.
So hardly Yorkshire Terriers.Corbyn was brought up not far from me in a very big house in the country.
Somehow that's rarely mentioned.
(We lived in a very small house.)He likes to play down his roots.

To be fair a lot was made of his origins when he was first voted leader of the Labour party, complete with photos of his childhood home, but this didn't last long. Unlike Cameron and Johnson and the constant reminders of the Bullingdon Club.
No vote from me. He utterly failed to give a lead on defeating Brexit. In my opinion he's out to lunch on a wide range of issues, wasted Labour's time for years and rubbished Labour's achievements under Blair.
Allira
Jeremy with the canine version of Boris.
Actually, Jeremy seems quite fond of dogs in all the photos online.
I think you ought to know Allira, the one and only important four legged creature in Jeremy's life was always El Gato that cat had a cult following equal only to Larry. Heaven knows why he appears to have veered off into the canine world for what I can see is merely a photo opportunity. You're either a cat or dog person, some say you can't be both
Allira
I'd say a Shropshire Spaniel but they're extinct, sadly.
Maybe that is appropriate.
I agree keepingquiet tho I have no time for Sultana either.
Both angry shouty rebels is all.
Corbyn was anti-EU
Media storm as usual.
Whoever said the two party system in this country was dead is massively mistaken.
Look what happened to the SDP, the Greens, the LibDems, the Monster Raving loonies and the Ratepayers (remember them?). Reform is just the Tory party re-named.
As a life long Labour supporter I have no time for Corbyn. I find him a vain and insufferably remote man who campaigns on his favourite issues and has no political imagination.
I think Sultana, who I admire more, has shot herself in the political foot here.
I was once persuaded to attend a Corbyn rally against my better judgement and was told listening to him would make me change my mind.
It was pouring with rain, he was more than an hour late and didn't even apologise. His speech was the same as any other I'd heard him give, and he came across as clueless and lacking any understanding of his audience. What his 'fans' saw in him I do not know.
I blame Corbyn's opposition to the EU as much as anyone for Brexit- he wasn't interested, and as a campaigner for Remain I felt it like a cold flannel on the face.
Let him form his party if he wants, but I will never vote for a man who allowed Theresa May and then Boris Johnson, to get voted into power.
We won't get fooled again, as the song goes...
I'd say a Shropshire Spaniel but they're extinct, sadly.

I promise it was purely an analogy Allira - I’d have said chihuahua, but they aren’t British dogs - I’ve got nothing against Yorkshire terriers at all - happy to substitute any very small British dog if anybody has any other suggestions.
I'll let you off 😁
Right, thinking cap on!

I don’t know how, but I just knew this thread was you FriedGreenTomatoes2. - it must have been the musical accompaniment!
I think it’s only been launched now because Ms Sultana jumped the gun, as is her wont. I’m not expecting the party to go anywhere much, it’ll be the nippy Yorkshire terrier of British politics.
How very dare you Casdon 😯
Our rescue Yorkshire terrier was the best dog ever - even DH said so although he never wanted a little dog in the first place!
Yorkshire terriers are loyal, loving, fearless and energetic.
Not how I'd describe Corbyn!

I didn’t intend to offend Anniebach, happy to substitute any very small nippy dog. 🐶

Please do not compare Corbyn with Yorkshire Terriers
My 17 year old Welsh Yorkshire Terrier Lottie has done much for the Labour Party to assist not destroy

Galloway was MP for Rochdale 2024, but only for 90 days !
They hope to mop up with Muslim voters? George Galloway tried that and ended up slurping from a dish on the floor like a cat.

Have fears about this, it will become an Islamist party, solely on the ticket of palestine. Nothing at all about the state this country is in, same as the other Islamists in Parliament in hoc to one vote only. The Muslim vote. Very dangerous waters indeed.
Quite possible

I think there may well be a spectrum of parties encompassing the far right to the far left and those sharp elbowing their way into the centre ground in future. The young voters of tomorrow will be drawn to some of the newer ones, the Greens, shouldn't be underestimated either they could well mop up a good few votes snd become more of a force to be reckoned with. The old two party system is/has broken down it's not a given between the old them and us anymore, they'll all have to fight for their slice of the electorate on several fronts, any sign of complacency could be a nail in the coffin. Another thing that has emerged there's a distinct split in where the male versus the female vote will line up and then there are those who want representation on niche issues and therefore limited in their appeal.
