I’ve continued the thread but sort of opened it up a bit, as Israel has also been trying to de-stable the new Syrian government by interfering in the fracas between the various religious factions in Syria.

Israel does not want a successful government in Syria for obvious reasons. I think this story might also have legs.

Footage now of the pallets dropping down. The crowds seem to be staying well back.
Also a convoy of trucks driving through a gate.
And how beautifully blue the sky is

I hope so too. Those people are desperate.

Maremia Sun 27-Jul-25 10:02:53

Israel says it will have a temporary truce to allow in aid. Hope that goes well enough.

The story about the UN aid workers is years old and has been resolved. It keeps being resurrected to cast doubt on the UN. The very few who may have been involved are long gone and make up a tiny percentage of all the aid workers.

7th October 2023, attack on Israel.

5th August 2024, announcement from UN

Years ago really!

Does you AI app need reprogramming Annie? hmm

There were a lot of people at the demo, but I wonder how representative they are of the feelings of the majority.
It's a long time until the elections.
Many of those children do not have that time.

Netanyahu's government doesn't seem to be what the Israeli people want now

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 16:56:54

After that depressing vote in their parliament, to annex the West Bank, I was delighted to see the support for the Palestinians and an end to the war.

AGAA4 Sat 26-Jul-25 16:08:54

It was heartening to see so many Israelis protesting about the war. Banners saying Not in our name. Wanting a new government too.

AGAA4 Sat 26-Jul-25 15:56:53

Thank you Maremia I will have a look.

Managed to find the footage of the big demonstration in Tel Aviv on the BBC online.
Posters and comments against the war. Worth trying to view.

So you believe the UN when it dismisses aid workers for being involved in the attack on Israel Annie but you choose not believe that they aren't to blame for aid getting through.

growstuff Sat 26-Jul-25 13:10:11

In any case, I thought you didn't trust the UN, so how can you know their statement is true?

How many were there*Annie*, a handful I seem to remember and what does that have to do with the lies coming from the Israeli PR machine?

They were involved , you choose to excuse I do not, I didn’t
read of it through social media or newspapers, UN admitted it
and said the aid workers had been dismissed.
How did you find out, if it wasn't through social media or newspapers?

The statement was released by UN ,

How did you access the statement, if not through social media or a newspaper?

But you don't trust the UN??????
Or just when it suits your narrative?

You believe the UN would have lied about some of their aid workers being involved with the attack on Israel? I do not ,

Smileless2012 Sat 26-Jul-25 12:47:27

Show me where I have excused members of the UN being involved Annie? Some were involved and those that were were dismissed but that does not support Israels claim that it's the UN that's preventing aid getting through.

Yes Anniebach and many were killed by bombs in Britain too. How many Israeli children have been killed in the last year?

Yes, war means deaths .

In the six years of WW2, there were approximately 70,000 UK civilian casualties in a population of about 46 million.

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 12:20:57

And Israel should let those aid lorries into Gaza to help the Palestinians, an oppressed minority in Israel.

Grantanow Sat 26-Jul-25 12:17:33

Israel should continue to support the Druze, an oppressed minority in Syria.

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 12:16:13

And there you have it Annie, the guilty ones were dismissed, gone from the scene, but still you tar a huge organisation with that brush.

I don't trust the UN for one second. We are now in a terrible position where many don't trust organisations that were once seen as trustworthy.

I do not trust UN , it’s difficult to trust many organisations
