Birmingham thinking of naming airport Ozzy Osbourne Airport.

I think all this fuss about Ozzy Osbourne had me cringeing to be honest.

I did not like his music at all and cannot belive how brainwahed and jump on the Celeb bandwagon people have now become.

If you want to celebrate naffBirmingham. How about Jasper Carrot, Crossroads

It certainly was. If they were going to name Liverpool airport after a local musician, it should have been Simon Rattle. He came from Liverpool. Actually he would do for Birmingham as well, since he was conductor of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for many years.

I agree with the idea of naming the Airport after him. Yes he’s made mistakes but who hasn’t, he’s admitted to this and spoken openly about it.
He should be remembered for who he was now, not his past, that stays there.
He also raised a hefty sum for three charities and no one’s complained about that.

Good for you and quite right, each to their own. The reason why music is so interesting and influential.

Loved Ozzy & love heavy metal so yes name after Ozzy. He is so much more than Lennon & the rest of the useless Beatles. Never liked them so maybe I just dont have the good taste of many GN’s here who dont like Ozzy! Each to their own but so many seem to try to talk for all! Off now to decide which of the many Ozzy cd’s I have that I will listen to next ok?

Sadly, I do t even know that nor does DH and we like music but weren’t into heavy metal. Nonetheless I feel sorry for his family who are mourning him.

I was also going to mention Slade, especially Noddy Holder! What about Jasper Carrott, isn’t he another “famous” Brummie?

Personally I couldn’t name a single song he’s sung but I remember Sharon on Simon Cowells talent shows. She’s looking her age and very frail poor soul. A difficult day for her and the family.

John Lennon was no saint for sure, but there would not have been Black Sabbath without The Beatles. They were musical and cultural giants.

If Ozzy hadn't have appeared in that awful TV series hardly anyone would know who he was...

I read in a newspaper yesterday that he shot his wife’s 16 cats and laughed about it. Also he took pleasure in shooting any animal that ventured onto his land. Must have been in the US.

That's awful.
I am fed up with the fuss being made of him. One person interviewed in the street said he should have "a State funeral" !!! I mean, honestly!!!!! Grrr.
