Couldn’t say. But I do know there have been some awful miscarriages of justice over the years.

Let’s not forget that 3 of the senior management team at that time are on bail for gross negligence and manslaughter

Terrifying.

Casdon Mon 04-Aug-25 21:05:34

That isn’t related specifically to who the killer was though petra, it’s due to the lack of action when the deaths were brought to their attention.

I don’t know but I do know that if I was accused of something, especially this serious, I’d be shouting my innocence from the rooftops whereas she is very quiet.

Yes. I agree with you.

Where is she supposed to shout from, her prison cell window.
Just because we don’t read everything that’s going on doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

I would not have a clue. I am not from a medical or legal background so would have no idea.

Quite true. She looks like butter wouldn’t melt.

I wouldn’t want you on a jury judging me 😱

Surely the best jury members are those who go into the role with no preconceived ideas at all.

There have been 2 famous cases where nurses convicted of murdering patients have been exonerated subsequently. A Dutch nurse, Lucy de Berk, having served 6 years of a life sentence, had her conviction for 7 charges of murder, and 3 charges of attempted murder quashed in 2010. Her conviction was considered to be one of the worst cases of miscarriage of justice in Dutch history. Italian nurse, Daniela Poggiali, was convicted of the murder of several patients in 2003, and after thorough expert statistical analysis was acquitted in 2010. It is true that we are not legal or medical experts, but the post-trial investigations do seem to suggest that she was not given a fair trial.

The first sensible response Desdemona. How can we possibly judge?

The court judged already.

I don’t see that so many people got it wrong and considering all the court evidence that we didn’t see would be inclined to say that yes she was guilty.

valdavi Mon 04-Aug-25 19:06:48

I tend to think she's guilty.

Mt61 Mon 04-Aug-25 19:06:46

I always felt she was innocent.

TheatreLover Mon 04-Aug-25 19:06:30

I don't know whether Lucy is innocent or guilty, but with the post-trial analysis of each baby's death by respected experts that suggest doubts that Lucy was to blame, and the apparent concerns about the fairness of her trial, I do think that she should be accorded a retrial. Of note, Dr Dewi Evans, the main prosecution witness has changed his mind on how one of the babies that Lucy was convicted of killing died.

petra Mon 04-Aug-25 18:48:48

I was 50/50 until I listened to this piece from File on 4 back in October 24.
After listening to this I would bet the bungalow that she is innocent.

I’ve been watching the programme about Lucy Letby … Beyond Reasonable Doubt …. and it just confirmed what I always thought at the outset that I’m 100% sure she’s innocent. What do you think?
