Unfolding Genocide

BBC report

“Israel has faced mounting criticism over the 22-month-long war with Hamas, with UN-backed experts warning of widespread famine unfolding in the besieged territory.

On Tuesday members of an international group of former leaders known as "The Elders" for the first time called the war in Gaza an "unfolding genocide" and blamed Israel for causing famine among its population.

Following a visit to the Gaza border, Helen Clark and Mary Robinson, a former prime minister of New Zealand and a former president of Ireland, said in a joint statement: "What we saw and heard underlines our personal conviction that there is not only an unfolding, human-caused famine in Gaza. There is an unfolding genocide."

With all the evidence we have now I believe those who are still justifying the atrocities in Gaza are a lost cause.
Many countries have condemned Israel only the US have not and now we know why.
Trump wants Gaza. A Gaza cleared of Palestinians is his ideal so he can bring his plan to fruition.

Has he announced that or are you posting an “in my opinion “

"War in Gaza now" doesn't make your constant regurgitating of what happened during WW2 any more relevant.

Anniebach Thu 28-Aug-25 13:28:16

War in Gaza now

Smileless2012 Thu 28-Aug-25 13:23:47

No idea Annie but this thread isn't about what happened during WW2, it's about what's happening now to the Palestinians in Gaza.

Anniebach Thu 28-Aug-25 13:19:11

Was the bombing if Dresden revenge ?

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 13:09:46

Where do you place Qatar and Iran in this fight?

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 13:04:25

Bonkers

Smileless2012 Thu 28-Aug-25 12:51:55

"Those hollow words were spoken for the Holocaust not a war, unkind surely to use them to suit oneself" no more unkind Annie than to keep making references to the Holocaust to condone Israel's treatment of the Palestinians.

"This is not a war it is revenge mafia style" it certainly is Babs.

Babs03 Thu 28-Aug-25 12:33:39

ronib

Completely wrong Babs03 definition of a war can be between different groups within a country.

You are outlining a sectarian or civil war as happened in Lebanon, or NI, where both groups are similarly armed, not where one group is a powerful state with state of the art weaponry, nukes, and the backing of a super power.
This is not a war it is revenge mafia style.

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 12:30:59

Well if a minority really does set its face against any cooperation or resolution, as Hamas appears to have done, what is the majority supposed to do?

Eloethan Thu 28-Aug-25 12:22:13

They are hoping that, once Gaza has been completely obliterated and its people dispersed to who knows where, this issue will not be making the headlines due to "viewer fatigue" and other issues arising. Because of this, and also because many people who are enraged by this don't know what they can do, I fear the murderer Netanyahu will get away with this.

It is a disgrace

AGAA4 Thu 28-Aug-25 12:14:37

There is a 'comprehensive plan' being made for Gaza when the war ends in about 4 months according to the US.
I'm guessing that it will be to the benefit of Israel and Trump.
Trump said in February that he wanted all Palestinians to leave Gaza and live elsewhere.

No one representing the Palestinians at the meeting.

Who is representing Israel ? BBC said Israel not represented but that’s so BBC News

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Aug-25 12:05:40

No one representing the Palestinians at the meeting.

My goodness what a grubby lot of money making individuals they all are.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Aug-25 12:00:40

There is a big meeting being held with Trump including Tony Blair😮😮, about what will happen in Gaza.

We are getting to the end stage I think.

theworriedwell Thu 28-Aug-25 11:57:05

Anniebach

I never thought I would still see persecution of the descendants of the Holocaust after the world declared “Never Again “

Why did you use them then?

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Aug-25 11:53:33

“ Civilians never deserve to be harmed through carelessness, inadvertence or deliberate targeting. Yet given the kind of war Israel is fighting – using large, indiscriminate weapons to destroy buildings and failing to distinguish between combatant and noncombatant – it has unsurprisingly produced high civilian casualty rates.”

Whitewavemark2 Thu 28-Aug-25 11:51:03

I have just been reading about how the USA deals with insurgency and so called collateral damage in the form of civilian deaths.

It is a rule they have which is rarely if ever broken, that where the need to kill say 5 insurgents cannot be carried out without killing say 20 civilians will not be done as it is recognised that in doing so it is totally counterproductive because the USA will recruit a further 20 more insurgents.

Clearly a lesson that Israel does not understand or indeed care about as genocide will leave very few left.

It isn’t evil, it’s what happens in any war or conflict, all this about ‘competent army’ isn’t reasonable. They are hunting hamas which is no easy thing and rely on their intelligence sources on the ground in Gaza. They would have been told about cameras on the hospital roof and balcony.
Think about any conflict anywhere in the world either now or from the recent past.So many mistakes will have happened.

Why lie about killing the paramedics, not just one lie but then lying again when the bodies were found? They lied because they knew they did wrong.

Let's face it you'd excuse them whatever they did, you aren't prepared to consider this isn't all one sided.

ronib Thu 28-Aug-25 11:46:54

Although not sure how this helps find any kind of solution?
