Israel is the historic homeland of the Jewish people and is central to the Jewish faith.
Just because Jewish people were successively exiled to other countries does not mean that is not their original homeland.
As they share a common ancestor, Jewish people and Palestinians are genetically linked.
It is a tragedy that they fight over this historic homeland.
Yes, they are genetically linked, but Palestinian Arabs are closer genetically to the ancient skeletons retrieved from the area.
The territory now known as Israel has been owned by many different tribes throughout history. All of them, if they were so disposed, could claim it as their own. I'm perfectly well aware of the centrality to the Jewish faith, but their claim isn't that much stronger than anybody else's.
Nevertheless, I do support the right of the state of Israel to exist. Balfour and others should probably never have made a promise which he had no intention of fulfilling, but we are where we are now and I'm glad that Jewish people have a homeland. That doesn't give them the right to grab land which isn't theirs.
