BBC report

“Israel has faced mounting criticism over the 22-month-long war with Hamas, with UN-backed experts warning of widespread famine unfolding in the besieged territory.

On Tuesday members of an international group of former leaders known as "The Elders" for the first time called the war in Gaza an "unfolding genocide" and blamed Israel for causing famine among its population.

Following a visit to the Gaza border, Helen Clark and Mary Robinson, a former prime minister of New Zealand and a former president of Ireland, said in a joint statement: "What we saw and heard underlines our personal conviction that there is not only an unfolding, human-caused famine in Gaza. There is an unfolding genocide."

AGAA4 you spoke earlier of “many have fled* , where did they flee to?
They will have gone south I would think to where Israel wants them but I can't be sure if that. Who can? If they stay they will be killed. 19 have died today in Gaza City as Israel moved further in.

Thank you, I was puzzled. 19 died today I assume figure by Hamas, no way could I believe those vermin

The Israelis on the west bank have destroyed most of the water availability for the Palestinians. They have taken over a spring used by them and only Israelis allowed now.

The Israelis allow them water twice a week. Report by Reuters.

I listened to a victim of Hamas 7th October 2023, yes held hostage, raped ,and her rapists filmed it on her mobile phone, yes they forwarded it, that must have been so shocking for those on receiving end of the contact from Hamas, it was so shocking I vomited

silverlining48 Mon 01-Sept-25 17:46:09

Just in case anyone us interested her name is Dena and I found her straight away by googling with the information I had.

I have just watched filming of an American journalist visiting Hebron in the West Bank, where her father came from. She was escorted by two ex IDF soldiers who are so disgusted with the way they had to behave when in the army they now escort visitors and help them through the many restricted areas in Hebron. Within minutes they were surrounded by aggressive Israeli military.
This is occupied territory and there are laws to protect people living under these conditions but literally every move by people living there is micro controlled; they are at the mercy of the settlers and IDF who treat them pretty much like dirt.
Front doors of homes are welded up by IDF and an elderly woman is forced to climb up to her roof and slide down the other side to reach her back door. A family have to pass a checkpoint a couple of feet from their front door every time they come and go but they are not allowed to turn left on the street, only turn right up the road. You just couldn’t make it up. It’s cruelty in the extreme. Settlers behave abominably.

My phone charge ran out so I didn’t see it to the end and unfortunately can’t remember the woman’s name but what I saw was shocking.

Will there be much left for journalists to see. Gaza has been flattened. Many have fled.
The IDF will make sure journalists aren't allowed to see anything that Israel don't want them to see.
The world already knows about the killing, the destruction of homes and other buildings including hospitals and the famine.
They will not be able to film anything we don't know about

Much I have read but haven’t seen, people dying of starvation, just few photographs of three children with serious physical health illnesses.
If hospitals have been destroyed how can they be seen.
Many have fled, where to ? many posts claiming the Palestinians are too weak to walk distances, certainly no animals given the number left , according to a list posted here.

But which journalists are being allowed? Are they being taken round / controlled by IDF or are they able to work independently? Probably the former.

Israel are masters at playing with people’s lives and clearly care neither for the hostages nor the Palestinians civilians.

As for the once respected bbc, esp tv, they report little about Gaza and the West Bank, so no need to ignore bbc news. Nothing there to see.

Anniebach Mon 01-Sept-25 11:32:09

So many jumping on the bandwagon, it really is so wrong playing with people lives

Netanyahu is allowing Journalists into Gaza, best I ignore BBC News

I see Greta and the people who ‘use’ her have set off again even tho they know they will be deported. It will do or achieve nothing but will surely have the appreciation from hamas, what’s left of them.

I just listened to her. She speaks of seeing videos of suffering, she refused to watch videos of the attack on Israel by Palestinians. Closed mind

ronib Mon 01-Sept-25 09:57:38

Gaza is a state controlled by Israel. A reservation for Palestinians?

I can't get to any marches either because I'm physically unable to stand or walk for long.
I support MSF as they work around the world in these war torn countries.

I wonder now if it's too late to help the Gazans. Trump has his eye on the prize while Netanyahu decimates the rest of their country.

Gaza isn’t a country ?

Sending cash to any Palestinian cause, where will that end up?
No point sending cash to any organisation including the one that supports hostages as in this situation the only the IDF can get them out or the terrorists release them. There will be plenty of support for them if they are released
As for marches a waste of time

So agree , no way can giving money helped the hostages and their families , a March demanding free the hostages? Hamas would oblige ?

Anniebach Mon 01-Sept-25 08:12:55

What can money do to help / free the hostages,

Where are the demonstrations and support for the innocent Israeli hostages suffering unspeakable suffering at the hands of Hamas ?

On this thread the fault lies with Israel

Its around the world, Annie, here is the international organisation that supports the hostages, and you can donate to their work.
