I am a member of the Women’s Institute and have complained to our National branch that the membership wasn’t given a vote on the inclusion of transwomen. They are still dithering on whether to return to an all biological Women’s Institute.

Women’s Righs are being eroded. 😏

So glad to hear from another frustrated WI member regarding Women's rights.
I am a WI member and find it has changed from the organisation I joined over 20 years ago.
I think National are keen to ditch the Jam & Jerusalem stereotype in favour of appealing to today's young women but run the risk of alienating their current membership, especially the older members. We need the younger generation to keep the WI going but on such important issues as transwomen the members should have been given a chance to vote.

I agree entirely with safe spaces for biological women and so wish you luck with your case. It sounds like an uphill battle. Do try to keep us updated.

I’m cynical. Shame the Supreme Court were unable to see they should put an enforcement in place. Maybe it wasn’t taken further to enable councils etc to continue to support men as women.

I am a little unclear about your post, the supreme Court ruling has clarified the position on womens spaces, I understand that there will need to action to ensure organisations meet this requirement but the law has thankfully been clarified by the supreme Court ruling.

The Supreme Court ruling confirmed the law, but it didn’t create an enforcement mechanism. This case will force local authorities to actually follow that ruling in real-world decisions, rather than sidestepping it.

I agree, women’s rights are being steadily eroded, and policy without consultation is part of the problem. The law already protects single-sex provision, but in practice councils and organisations can ignore it with no consequence – that’s why this case matters.
