Charlie Kirk shooting

Too much coverage on someone who didn't seem to do much except get into on-line and public spats with people he didn't seem to like.

I'm sorry he was shot, but people are dying in Gaza, Kiev and elsewhere and all I see on the news is this guy.

What's going on? I find it very odd.

I see Trump has already decided on what the punishment should be.

There were attempts on Hitler's life. Were those wrong?

As for the "very nasty stuff" others have written, wasn't that merely balancing the "very nasty stuff" this man came out with while he was alive.

Or is it that some on here don't care if America is turned into a version of the Republic of Gilead, perhaps wanting the same for the UK? That is the direction of travel at this moment, although without the public hangings ... so far!

I don't understand why this is such big news over here. I'd never heard of him until this incident. Obviously it's very sad for his family but but bad things are happening over here without the media fixating on this shooting in America.

On average, 125 people are killed by guns in the USA every day.

Charlie Kirk believed in the right to bear arms.

I feel sorry for the families of all those who met such violent deaths.

What is certainly being reinforced by this incident is that divisive and hate filled rhetoric has consequences.

Unfortunately his opinions weren’t just his opinions he was influencing young people in racism, anti immigrants, anti women, and anti trans and was a gun lover.
No one deserves to be shot, absolutely not, but don’t make him out to be an innocent nice guy .
Nothing at all to do with his politics or views which he’s entirely entitled to, but revving up young people into hatred should not be applauded

Totally agree.

Dreadful that this young family man has been killed. I knew nothing of him until yesterday and then I read about his beliefs, which are mostly contrary to my own. However I wouldn’t wish him dead.

HOWEVER I am rather ashamed to say that if Putin had been shot dead I would be rejoicing and breathing a sigh of relief.

I am incredibly sad about it all. I would feel the same whichever party they had belonged to.

My thread is more of a human touch, thinking of his poor wife and family 😢 no political

I like to think I am a human. Not all the posts were purely political. Quite a few, including mine, were sympathetic comments about his bereaved wife and family.

Agree, no person should be murdered because of the political views……we all have a human right to our opinion 😔

I had to stop reading comments on the other thread. Some very nasty stuff on there from some of the same old names. Especially as the poor guy is hardly cold.

It was horrific and to think he was so young with two very small children who will never know their Daddy and a wife who has lost her husband.

I haven’t read the other thread, I’d never heard of him before, as I live in the uk, but I seen the write up/video on the BBC News, very sad, especially for his family and young children 😔 yes we all need to have empathy despite our political views 😔

"Some very nasty stuff on there from some of the same old names. "
Is there? I didn't see that, just people posting opinions about his extreme political views but everyone seemed to say that no one should be murdered for holding those views even if they found them pretty disgusting and some discussion over US gun laws. Funny how we read the same things and come to completely different conclusions.

So sad for them, also his last time on earth is for all to see 😔

Maremia Thu 11-Sept-25 15:19:11

Condolences also to the families of children killed in the school shooting that same day.

There is already a thread on this.

“Hi everyone, just be reading the news about the tragic shooting of Charlie Kirk, who was shot and sadly passed away at the young age of 31. I am not really interested in politics, but I’m shocked by this incident. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. It’s a reminder of how precious and fragile life is.”
His poor wife and young children 😢
