QuoteEmeraldforest good to hear from someone on the ground. I can quite believe how feral and scary those thugs were as I grew up near Southend in Essex. I applaud our bravery in attending the counter demo. Of course some of our kindly old grans here will make passive aggressive remarks and downplay the violence because that suits their world view. We all know who they are now.

Are you implying that those thugs are from Essex…

IOMGran Sun 14-Sept-25 18:39:21

maybee70 neither would I, I wouldn't damage art either. I might throw paint over an Israeli warplane though.

Action Palestine don’t have more arrests because of violence. It has been declared an illegal/terrorist group that cannot gather on our streets so the police have to try to arrest everyone, which is such a wasted use of police time when those attending one of these demos are not violent or in any way terrorists.

I have my Plasticene Action T shirt ready for when I get to the UK on Wednesday. Such an overreach of terrorism laws. I would not have expected this kind of thing from a Labour Gov. I will vote Lib Dem next time.

Palestine Action should not have damaged MOD property. I don’t see what the government could have done, especially with all the two tier Keir accusations. I also don’t agree with the oil protesters defacing works of art. Even though I agree with both causes I would not take part in anything that causes criminal damage or support a group that does so.

Well said Maybee. 👏

I must also point out that I would never take part in a protest organised by Tommy Robinson either.

It was horrible, I was in the counter march against racism. They trapped us between Trafalgar Square and the south of Whitehall for 3 hours when we were meant to be out of there by 4. The police eventually kept them back so we could make our way out of there.I don't think I could get to a toilet for 10 hours. TRs supporters style is to urinate in bottles and hurl them at non racists, well I guess they'd had plenty to drink.
It wasn't nice, or glorious or united, it was threatening and I resent how they've hijacked the flags for their extreme nationalist ends and it was cynical and calculating how they trapped us and 'occupied' Trafalgar Square. How dare they.
Their speakers...what a rag tag bunch of nasty people.Elon Musk, what a crazy piece of work.
None of us were rejoicing at the murder of Charlie Kirk, even if we disagreed with his views.Unlike the opposition we don't condone violence. I'd be doubtful if 2% of that crowd had ever been in a church, how dare they appropriate Christianity for themselves!
No it wasn't a nice day out, businesses were shutting up early, how terrifying for non whites.
They mustn't be allowed to win.

sad

Emeraldforest Sun 14-Sept-25 18:35:07

They were most certainly NOT all wearing masks or dressed in black! That was just a group of pro Palestinians. There was no trouble at all from any of the counter demonstrators who behaved with great self control when trapped between 2 groups for several hours.
The man who was photographed with a bloodied head was NOT injured by a counter demonstrator but as a result of his own altercation with the police.
I really take issue with anyone who is pointing any blame on the non racist group.

But those urine tossing heroes were defending the integrity of our flag, weren't they? That's why they were there, because of our concerns, for a family fun day out.

Yeah, protecting are wommin eh?

And let's be honest, who is easier to arrest? A 75 year old docile pensioner or a rabid, racist, ranting thug?

Maremia Sun 14-Sept-25 18:21:08

'Concerns of the majority' are important, but in your view, and just for starters, what is the single main concern of the majority?

It was a Reform appeasing overreaction. It was pathetic. I used to be really pro Israel, but not any more. They have become the prison guards. It's sad because the people I knew in Israel weren't like that at all. But the Brits used to be a lot better too.

I really want to understand why people who are not racist or islamophobic, who don't intend to be violent and genuinely want a united Britain would turn out to march with Tommy Robinson. As yet no one has given me a reason.

I didn't march, I live too far away from London, but as it said on the news, many people who did march were there not to fight, or because they are racist. But because they wanted to express their concern.

They may be told they have to wait three weeks for a doctor's appointment, or their children can't find suitable housing, and many other similar reasons, as these are being taken up by the large numbers of immigrants entering the country.

No British government can manage the needs of the current population it has already. And to continually add so many more people into the mix is making everything so much worse.

So why did they march with someone like TR, he didn't have a manifesto for improving the NHS. If he turfed out all the NHS workers who are here on visas the NHS would collapse. He didn't have a plan for building more houses either.

We wouldnt need more houses if not for increased numbers.

Totally agree….but no one is listening to the concerns of the majority. Instead they are labelled as ‘far right’.

The doctor you will see is likely to be an immigrant or 2nd/3rd generation. Basically we have a problem with anti education amongst a proportion of our indigenous population. They are simply not able to do these roles.

Bought the t-shirt off of Temu. My next fancy dress I am going to wear it and take a Zimmer frame and go as a terrorist.

The reason why TR fills a vacuum is because he appeals to people’s fears and prejudices, is the oldest trick in the book, Trump and Farage do the same. They take a scapegoat that they know many people feel uneasy about and make it into a bogeyman that will steal their country and their jobs/women etc. This idea of a group of people taking over a country is not new, in 1930s Germany people were persuaded to feel that Jews were taking over the country, taking influential jobs, especially in finance.
In Southern states of the US before civil rights there were regular tropes about black people over populating the country, being over sexed and raping white women, and being more violent/savage.
We can see resonances with this and what TR, Farage, Trump and Musk are saying.
And they are not offering solutions just unrest, division, and violence. But people in times of trouble want to blame someone for their situation, especially when politicians are weak and incompetent.
These are dangerous and very dark times for this kind of far right nonsense never ends well.

Thousands of people are willing to listen to Stephen Yaxley Lennin, because he 'fills a void'.
What has he promised to do for these people?
What hope does he bring them?
Which good experiences from his past life does he draw on to be a leader?
