We don't live there, although DH worked there for a couple of years, surprisingly with professional people! 😁

More than 100,000 people in central London have joined a march organised by far-right activist Tommy Robinson
I ll say no more it’s devastating for this country

Playing 'Top Trumps' is def more uplifting than many of the posts today. Just like any other aspect of a thread, you don't have to join in.
I am aware that I can scroll past
I just do not feel the need to tell the ethnicity of my friends to all.
You missed my point entirely.
I was giving an example of what people are missing by a narrow minded view of what Britishness is.
I was in just 2 days experiences going an example of why we should celebrate diversity. I also talked to my white Brit disabled friend who comes everyday for a swim (she had a brain episode years ago and has had to learn to talk)
Many olde friends (white) as it has become more diverse over the last 5/6 years, friends going back some of them nearly the same 20 years I've been going to the same gym. When you go to the gym 3/4 times a week for years you know loads of people, but it's now a delight to have maybe 12 different languages spoken?
It's near the uni as well as an Asian area also you can imagine the post grads? Chat in the Sauna with a Russian?
I really hope those hostile to my post or patronising get the point now.
It was reported in the Times Newspaper
Keir Starmer*: *We won’t allow flag to become symbol of violence
The PM’s comments came after....
Elon Musk told 110,000 Tommy Robinson protesters to fight back at Saturday’s far-right Unite the Kingdom march..
that led to 26 police injuries
Nothing to be proud about. My Britishness means being decent to others - what was decent about many in that crowd of demonstrators who were spewing hatred?
But obviously very inclusive and promoting diversity, the word moron.
I think it is meant to provoke allira. I am sure that doesn't help you though.
It isn't pleasant, though, reading posts declaring that the citizens of a certain town are generally feral, thugs and morons.
DH spent some time working there; that was not his experience.
I hope that was just a bad choice of words Allsorts, as nobody on this thread is inciting violent or unlawful behaviour, people are merely disagreeing with people with different perspectives.
We should not let a minority of people deter anyone from flying our flag. Its England we have a flag be proud of it. I am sick of police being injured in these demonstrations, throw the book at them, if it is not peaceful it shouldn't be allowed.
I look at some of the awful inciting comments on here and its not surprising we have problems.

“I have no need to promote inclusivity and diversity, nor display it as a badge of honour, nor castigate others for not being so. I live my life quietly and respectfully towards all faiths, creeds and colours. I have no axes to grind.
Palestinian rent a gobs banging on about Gaza displaying flags ad nauseum in our capital city week after week.”
Bit contradictory that FGT?
Yes I agree MayBee bit of a silly thing to say! I just meant to point out about all the Palestinian flags every weekend really.
Oh well, it’s late, I’m tired and getting ready for bed.
Or just dropped your guard?
Although I now have the cybermen from Dr Who in my head.
Posts are deleted on here if they break guidelines, that's how it is described on GN.

Are you trying to be deleted IOMgran. It is quite impressive in a bizarre way.
Not really but I am sure that would make you happy. Me being 'deleted' as you so beautifully put it.
*Wyllow's post was reasonable and thoughtful.

Nobody is asking you to GG13, but it's not up to you what others chose to bring to the thread.
Totally agree it’s not up to me
I can have an opinion on a post though, just like everyone else.
Agreed, although I sometimes feel some are trying to shut others down.
It is one if the most spiteful, nasty threads I have ever seen on Gransnet.
I hope this is not a portent of the future for the UK.
Hopefully not, because most of the people I know do not speak with vipers' tongues with such derision of those with a different point of view.
They are reasonable and thoughtful.

Yes it's about as ridiculous as the talk we had from a CofE vicar which we had to endure so we could get married in his church. All religion is nonsense and many people just play lip service to keep the old people happy and not rock the boat. Did you submit to your husband like I was told to by the CofE vicar because we ignored all his 'advice'?
What absolute rubbish! Was that in the 1900s? You didn't have to say 'obey', there was a choice! Unless you are very, very old.
many people just play lip service to keep the old people happy
Our vicar is the same age as my DC.
I find some of your posts stretch my credulity, IOMGran.
Oh my apologies GG13, it was an opinion. Gosh, my bad, I thought it was a sneer.

My eyes are fully open Wyllow thank you.
I’m a happy person with a calm disposition. Going through a tough time but with acceptance and love. Grateful for all we have. I have no need to promote inclusivity and diversity, nor display it as a badge of honour, nor castigate others for not being so. I live my life quietly and respectfully towards all faiths, creeds and colours. I have no axes to grind.
However I do fully think that that this country of ours is under judgement, most unfairly by some. Universities, cancel culture, calls for reparation from dubious corrupt overseas governments, celebrities who mock the way of life most of us love here. Palestinian rent a gobs banging on about Gaza displaying flags ad nauseum in our capital city week after week.
I think yesterday’s display of ❤️ of our British values was wonderful. Uplifting and inspirational.
If we are so awful why do so many people want to live here? We are a tolerant, generous nation and it was good to see and celebrate our patriotism.
In my opinion.
Where did Musk's rallying call to "fight or die" figure in the display of British values? Was he "uplifting and inspirational"?

Good for you for actually going and supporting what you believe in in person Eloethan. We’re all talking about it, but as far as I know, nobody else on the thread was actually there.
EmeraldForest has said that she was there.
Whoops, I’m sorry EmeraldForest good on you too for being there.
Yes the Genocide is very nasty.
