I was giving an example of what people are missing by a narrow minded view of what Britishness is.

I was in just 2 days experiences going an example of why we should celebrate diversity. I also talked to my white Brit disabled friend who comes everyday for a swim (she had a brain episode years ago and has had to learn to talk)

Many olde friends (white) as it has become more diverse over the last 5/6 years, friends going back some of them nearly the same 20 years I've been going to the same gym. When you go to the gym 3/4 times a week for years you know loads of people, but it's now a delight to have maybe 12 different languages spoken?

It's near the uni as well as an Asian area also you can imagine the post grads? Chat in the Sauna with a Russian?

I really hope those hostile to my post or patronising get the point now.

It isn't pleasant, though, reading posts declaring that the citizens of a certain town are generally feral, thugs and morons.

DH spent some time working there; that was not his experience.

I hope that was just a bad choice of words Allsorts, as nobody on this thread is inciting violent or unlawful behaviour, people are merely disagreeing with people with different perspectives.

We should not let a minority of people deter anyone from flying our flag. Its England we have a flag be proud of it. I am sick of police being injured in these demonstrations, throw the book at them, if it is not peaceful it shouldn't be allowed.
I look at some of the awful inciting comments on here and its not surprising we have problems.

Yes it's about as ridiculous as the talk we had from a CofE vicar which we had to endure so we could get married in his church. All religion is nonsense and many people just play lip service to keep the old people happy and not rock the boat. Did you submit to your husband like I was told to by the CofE vicar because we ignored all his 'advice'?

I’m a happy person with a calm disposition. Going through a tough time but with acceptance and love. Grateful for all we have. However I do fully think that that this country of ours is under judgement, most unfairly by some. Universities, cancel culture, calls for reparation from dubious corrupt overseas governments, celebrities who mock the way of life most of us love here. I think yesterday’s display of ❤️ of our British values was wonderful. Uplifting and inspirational.

If we are so awful why do so many people want to live here? We are a tolerant, generous nation and it was good to see and celebrate our patriotism.
