I read some stats that show older fathers are more likely to father autistic children so the obvious pills to blame are Viagra.
😂😂😂
(I take it that's a joke!)

…he couldn’t pronounce acetaminophen. BBC had to pull the plug on his announcement ( can’t remember them having to do that before). Seems to me his news conferences need to be time lapsed and fact checked. Or maybe the news media in this country might consider not showing every press conference, every word he utters…#justsaying

It is just as possible that the condition which made the taking of paracetamol necessary was responsible for the autism.
Yes! Why is no one seeing this?
I heard today that mid-trimester fevers may have some connection (as yet unproven) to autism.
If you have a fever, presumably due to some infection, during pregnancy and take paracetomol, why are people blaming the drug and not the fever?
Makes no sense to me.

AuntieE As Trump is neither a pharmacist, a medical doctor or a biochemist or chemist, surely we have no reason to listen to his advice on health matters?
Indeed. Listen to people with knowledge to health.
And read the Swedish study, 2.4 million were involved, and it found no causal link. That is surely a lot more convincing than Trump.
A few weeks ago I did read that medical researchers had identified a correlation between paracetamol in pregnancy and autism in the children. It also said it needed a far bigger sample of women and was not proven.
Thinking about it most people have taken paracetamol quite frequently for various aches and pains or fevers. My limited experience of autism is a child I looked after (as a registered Childminder) who had 2 autistic sisters. The nursery he also attended wanted to put him forward for an assessment but mother refused, totally convinced there was nothing wrong with him. He spent hours lining up cars or staring into space, avoided eye contact or any interaction and was very delayed with speech at almost 5 years old. So I do think it's more likely to be genetic at least in most cases.

I believe he did say that stupid people love him..
As Trump is neither a pharmacist, a medical doctor or a biochemist or chemist, surely we have no reason to listen to his advice on health matters?
Is there anything he is knowledgeable about?
As yet I have never heard him advance a sensible view about anything.
Nigel Farage said this morning that the President has autism in his family. There is no proof of this. However, The First Lady has threatened to sue anyone who suggests that her son has autism so perhaps Mr Farage was thinking of that.
Now of course we would take the word of a man with as far as I know, no medical degree, believes he is a very good friend of king Charles and putin. Thinks that he only has to say something and never needs to prove his statements. Now I wonder why most of us would prefer to listen to someone who at least does not look at the world, as expecting that it will change because he says so!
Oh indeed.
But there is unfortunately one born every minute who will lap up Trumps lies, maybe because they are racists who want to to feel justified for hating a certain group of people - ‘he tells it as it is’ - which is shorthand for saying racist stuff, or because people think that he is anti establishment despite Trump being first and foremost a business man chasing the dollar, so very much ‘the establishment,’ or maybe they do see him as a peace maker despite him giving Israel impunity to commit genocide and has been unable to stop Putin bombing Ukraine.

Trump is also saying that he has heard ‘bad things’ about the MMR jab for babies.
Of course he has! There was huge publicity given to Dr Andrew Wakefield's claims that the MMR vaccine caused autism. But remember that Andrew Wakefield was disgraced and struck off as a result of these claims as his research was discredited! There is a large amount of research which disputes these assertions and states that there is no causative link. The fact that Trump has heard 'bad things' does not make them true.
Please note too that Trump has suggested that London is going to be subject to Sharia Law! I feel sorry for those who are taken in by anything he says!
undines, I think that you will find that Mr Wakefield is, indeed, a fraudster.
His data was shown to be, to put it politely, extremely flawed.
The reasons for his disbarment from the GMC are a matter of public record, and are absolutely nothing to do with him " speaking out"

Try reading this all you sceptics …

Stylist is a women’s media brand with no clinical expertise or knowledge though. You might as well believe the postman.
I'd love it if medical science could make Trump become pregnant and suffer sickness, headaches, joint pains etc for all of the nine long months.
He is rather too old now, though.

Autism was recognised before paracetamol was made. I find prefer aspirin but even that has side effects.
I wonder what drug Trump's mother took during her pregnancy ?
😂.

I wonder what Trumps next headline grabbing stunt is going to be?
Nigel Farage was interviewed this morning, and failed to condemn what Trump said about paracetamol. It’s causing quite a stir. This is ITV News - there is also a clip included where at the Reform conference, a doctor actually told the audience that the Royal family members who had cancer got it because they had Covid jabs!

Is anybody working for Trump playing with a full deck??
I sort of hoped his mad as a box of frogs attitude could be tempered by someone with common sense, but Kennedy is completely away with the fairies.

Medical 'research' is obviously unreliable because it is carried out or sponsored by those who benefit from sales. It's pretty obvious that any drug taken in pregnancy could cause harm, however this is not about mothers feeling guilty, but being well-informed. I have an autistic son and I do not blame myself. Who knows what, exactly, caused it? I just did my best. And Dr Wakefield is not a 'proven fraudster' - that remark is not based on profound research. People get struck off by the GMC for speaking out, and it takes a brave person to do that when being 'struck off' is what you get! As for Trump appealing to the uneducated - oh dear! I do not think that remark is based on good education.

This is paracetamol and should not be taken in pregnancy, evidence is emerging of causation of autism
No it isn't.

Bear in mind that Donald Trump is advised on health matters by Robert Kennedy junior - health qualifications somewhat questionable - and back in the Covid epidemic Trump is rumoured to have advocated injecting with domestic bleach as a precaution.
As usual, with all matters Trump, no valid evidence was provided.
This lunatic makes things up as he's going along.
ALSO … why the sudden alarm, complete with a presidential presser?” Well …, “The Occam’s razor answer is the influence of RFK Jr., who is carrying water for his friends in the plaintiffs bar. A who’s-who of lawsuit shops are pushing the Tylenol-autism link in federal court. The litigants include the Lanier Law Firm, Beasley Allen, Cooper Law Partners, and Keller Postman. Most have been allies of Mr. Kennedy in other mass torts, such as against the weed-killer Roundup and Merck’s HPV vaccine.”
Having established that link, they wrote, “The lawyers are hoping the government will breathe new life into them—conveniently timed for their appeal at the Second Circuit Court of Appeals this fall. Lead attorney Ashley Keller told Reuters last week that he planned to alert the appellate court ‘if HHS follows through and does the right thing.’”
The Journal then suggested that Donald Trump, who participated in the press conference on Monday, may not realize what Kennedy is trying to pull off.
Trump's comments are not only ignorant, but sexist. Why should it be a woman's fault if a child has autism? Following his logic, what about fathers who take paracetamol?
The research Trump mentions is neither robust nor considered to be effective enough to be relevant. Anyone can carry out research and come out with the result they want. Good research has very high numbers of participants, a control group , takes place over a long period of time and is peer checked before results are published. This research has not had any of these things
