Taking any drugs during pregnancy is risky. Not sure why he has honed in on this one but maybe he knows something the rest of us don’t. Or he’s had a disagreement with the manufacturer.

The manufacturers probably didn’t pay him enough! He’s parroting what he’s been told by that unqualified crackpot Kennedy!

Older woman and women with hyper mobility are more prone to pain in pregnancy and take more paracetamol. But those two conditions as well as genetics are more likely the cause of autism.

Mamie, I know, we should not confuse correlation with causation, but I just thought it was a funny observation. Also pops the blame on the man for a change.

The reason why autism has increased these days isn’t down to taking paracetamol but because we are far more ‘autism aware’ than we used to be and thankfully children are diagnosed early. Back in the day I can remember children struggling at school or adults we would just call eccentric because there was no diagnosis of autism.
Is heartbreaking how many adults aged over 60 are now coming forwards and being diagnosed belatedly with autism, having masked all their adults lives, this particularly relates to women.

The recent increase is also down to the diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome now being included in ASD and also many more girls and women being diagnosed.

It may be a physiological change in older fathers, but I think there is evidence that men with ASD might have more difficulty with the social skills required to form relationships and find partners later in life. This could be reinforced if both parents have ASD.

This makes me really cross..Whilst pregnant my daughter didn't smoke or drink but did take a number of different drugs. She didn't want to and felt bad about it but without them she and the baby would have been very ill.
She and many other women like her don't deserve to have Trump ramping up the guilt

I have always thought the evolutionary theory of the genes of the "solitary forager" of prehistoric times is interesting in terms of autistic behaviours. On the other hand, years of working with children with ASD and their families has resulted more in the point of view that "if you have met one person with autism, you have met one person with autism".
Genetic yes, the odd paracetamol, almost certainly not.

what about those women who gave birth to autistic children befoe paracetamol and its derivatives were available?

What caused their children to have children with autism. What about families in the past that just had one autistic child, but other children without aautissm and without taking paracetamol.

Doctors always advise mothers to take as little medication as possible during pregnancy. There is nothing deeply significant about that. it is just commn sense. In the same way they advise against smokig alcohol, eating for 2 etc etc.

Remember, if anything goes 'wrong' in a pregnancy it is always the mother's fault. She did do something, she didn't do something, nobody but her is ever blamed.
