Well what an address!
I agree with every word.
We have been warned, I just hope it’s not too late.

Babs you are right I wish Trump and farage would get married and live on a desert island preferable on a far off planet
The world definitely went to hell in a handcart when it made him president

Maybe Elon could take them both with him to live on Mars. I was desperate for the Raptures to be true as we could have got rid of a vast number of bigots on one heavenly elevation.

LaTroisette Wed 24-Sept-25 14:10:47

That says a lot about you.

I was acutely embarrassed for all the non MAGA cult member Americans. He's appallingly awful.

Trumplethinskin...it's all about him, and the folk who annoy him.
He blamed the escalator glitch on the UN. Turns out that one of his own staff accidently hit the 'stop' button.
That auto-cue problem? Again, his own staff.
He had a melt down later when he heard Jimmy Kimmel back on TV.

I am equally sad that some people have been taken in by Boris Johnson and Starmer too.

Certainly people have been taken in by Johnson, more so Farage than Starmer, I’d say, but I am disappointed in Starmer in some areas.

The man needs a brain transplant he’s a danger to society
He’s a total idiot from an immigrant family who made their money from his grandfather brothels and don’t forget paracetamol causes autism and bleach cures Covid and climate change doesn’t exist
You’re right Grumppa men in white coats indeed needed
Dangerous man

I agree!

He’s an utterly dangerous idiot who spouts nonsense and appoints people who spread lies about medically proven facts, ie paracetamol can cause autism, and all the anti vax rubbish!

Anyway, that has wandered away from the thread, even though it is an important point.

Back to Trump.

Before we get back to the thread topic, I could point out that there used to be a fair amount of publicity about the awfulness of hotel and B & B life for our own homeless families placed in them by councils when there was no alternative accommodation available.

Stripeygran didn't say anything about the BBC stirring up hate, either. I don't know about RTFT, perhaps folk should read the actual words in a post?

Starmer’s approval rating is minus 47. Hasn’t stopped him.

AGAA4 Wed 24-Sept-25 11:02:50

Trump should stop interfering in other countries' business and wonder why his approval rate is so low in the US.
My mum used to say Get your own house in order before criticising anyone else.

The UK government needs to be very respectful of Trump as President surely?

A change of president may well have unknown consequences for the UK? Our relationship with the USA is not written in stone?

No relationship is written in stone. Trump is not the first American president, 45 men have held that position over the years and the UK has negotiated its relationship with each one to navigate its continuing relationship with the US.

Its the country and the continuing relationship with the country that matters not the vagaries of individual Presidents.

Soon after Trump’s speech was covered on the BBC 6 o’clock news tonight. a family of illegal migrants was featured in their tax -payer funded hotel where, amongst other things, they were complaining that the hotel food wasn’t to their liking.

The woman was then shown in the bathroom, cooking on some sort of camping stove having first sealed off the smoke alarm in the bedroom. 😮

Donald Trump is certainly correct when he said we and Europe have no idea how to stop illegal migration,

Malnitrition is common in the so called hotels, rickets has reappeared. Food is often inedible. A sensible idea may have been to use the skills people bring with them. They could prepare food, but of course they are not permitted.

Do you think Jennifer that the use of Hotels may infact have been a deliberate attempt to stir up the sort of hate which now stalks the land?

It was a BBC report, StripeyGran
Are you saying that the BBC is now stirring up hate?

It must be very boring living in a hotel room and the food offered may not be of the type that people from other countries are used to.

If there are people in the hotels with cookery skills, why do they not let a group of them take over the cooking so they an prepare food more to their own taste instead of cooking dangerously on a plugged-in electric hob in a shower tray with the smoke alarm covered? It's a recipé for disaster.

I think he is unhinged, and that is also the opinion of many people who are not what are rudely described as "woke".

Casdon

Trump pushed nations to accept his worldview, claiming he was always correct and touting MAGA hats that read, "Trump was right about everything.”

To quote him:
"I don't say that in a braggadocios way, but it's true”

To add to his multiple unsung talents(!) he has surely invented a new word.

So like small children do though, Casdon.

There's just one answer to that!

Luckygirl3 Wed 24-Sept-25 09:42:43

How sad it is that some people are taken in by this man.

Casdon Wed 24-Sept-25 09:38:56

The UK government gives any holder of the post of President the respect the post deserves ronib. Not Trump specifically, all of them.

You can answer your second question yourself. The future is a foreign land.

M0nica Wed 24-Sept-25 09:21:15

What has whether you love or hate Trump got to do with whether the UK is beholden to the US? It is the US we are beholden to, not the President in any way shape or form.

If Trump turned up his toes tomorrow aand was replaced by a left wing democrat we would still be beholden to the US.

LizzieDrip Wed 24-Sept-25 09:17:21

Well for all of the Trump haters, how do you cope with the knowledge that the UK is very economically beholden to him? How did we get ourselves into a vassal position with him?

I feel very unhappy that we are economically beholden to the US, but I’m realistic enough to accept that we have no alternative.

How did we get ourselves in this position? Well that’s easy to answer in one word … BREXIT!

Wyllow3 Wed 24-Sept-25 09:13:24

👏👏👏 telling it is like it is MOnica

M0nica Wed 24-Sept-25 09:10:19

All these tales people tell, £600 taxis, cooking in the shower, maake the headlines because they are exceptional and shocking,. The time to worry is when no one reports them because they are normal.

It is like the stories of benefit cheats and mothers who have 20 children in order to maximise benefits and pensioners on basic pensions spending their winters in Spain. It is the exceptions that prove the rules.

Trump is a freak, an exception, on a par with that nasty little bit of sh*t who runs North Korea. A man with not a democratic fibre in his body, a petty dictator who is too much of a coward to cope with criticism.

All we can do is hunkerdown under the blankets until his time in office is up.

Reading and listening, I think what is becoming more and more clear, is, that Trump and indeed his entourage despise Europe.

The U.K. s history and future is entirely tied up with Europe.

He gave permission for it to fly when Trump was over here for a visit so he had everything to do with it.

You mean the GLA?

It’s called freedom of speech - which Trump of course is a strong advocate🙄
