Good. I hope these 2 are hounded until they cough up every penny back to the Government.
I wonder why nobody checked the PPE supplied by her company? The CE mark which denotes a product complies with EU standards was missing and the gowns were not sterile. They were desperate times but still.
Perhaps the House of Lords could have a 2 for 1 offer. Strip Mone of her Baroness title and Mandelson of his peerage at the same time.

Oh, that was in response to MaizieD

Allira Wed 01-Oct-25 17:53:08

I agree.

Another instance which brings the Life Peerage system into disrepute.
It's time we had an elected upper House.

Is it about time the Limited Company regulation changed!

vegansrock Wed 01-Oct-25 17:51:09

We know they will have diverted all the money and claim bankruptcy so will get away with it.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 01-Oct-25 17:49:53

Agree MaizieD

MaizieD Wed 01-Oct-25 17:36:29

I absolutely agree, Allira.

But as she hasn't been held personally responsible what justification for 'de-peering' her could be offered?

I think the MPs (particularly Ministers) who blithely imposed the use of the VIP lane to enrich their friends and donors should suffer some sort of sanction, too.

Allira Wed 01-Oct-25 17:25:13

Nope, unlikely to get anything back.

But stripping her of her Baroness title would be a good move.

MaizieD Wed 01-Oct-25 17:19:19

A repeat of the post I put on the first thread on this topic

"MaizieD Wed 01-Oct-25 13:42:51
The money is highly unlikely to be repaid. The judgement is against Medpro, the company set up by Mone and her husband to cash in on the PPE bonanza. It is a Limited company and its accounts show it only has about £6,000. Mone and her husband are not responsible for paying its debts."

I'm sure that MOnica knows this even if few others do.

The government won't see a penny is my guess...

I'm with you, FGT, hopefully the public humiliation will resonate with this pair of...( words fail me)

Lovetopaint037 Wed 01-Oct-25 16:10:54

I remember seeing her being made a peer and wondering where she had popped up from. She looked so glamorous I thought she had something to do with Boris. I obviously misjudged him.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 01-Oct-25 16:07:19

Not much will be given back. A company was set up specifically for this PPE (all goods obtained from China too!) and the day before the Court verdict the account went into administration.

Such a shady pair (her and Barrowman) - well apart from their matching ‘teef’.

Remove her Baroness title I say - it’d hurt her more!

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 01-Oct-25 16:03:18

She'll maybe have to sell a yacht: oh dear, how sad, never mind...

M0nica Wed 01-Oct-25 15:50:21

Couldn't happen to a more desrving woman. She has earned what has come to her again and again.

MaizieD Wed 01-Oct-25 15:29:16

We already have a thread running on this

Good- now can we get our money back from all the others too?

windmill1 Wed 01-Oct-25 15:13:52

.......which she, and her current husband Doug Barrowboy, obtained for defective PPE in the pandemic.

Maybe she should give up her seat in The Lords as well?
