US President Donald Trump has announced that "Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan"
"This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line", Trump says on Truth Social
Trump is "considering travelling to the Middle East" in the coming days, according to the White House
Mediators from the US, Egypt and Qatar in Sharm El-Sheikh have been attempting to broker an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza and a release of Israeli hostages still held by Hamas
The negotiations come two years and two days after Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza in response to the 7 October 2023 attack, in which Hamas-led gunmen killed about 1,200 people and took 251 others as hostages
At least 67,183 have been killed by Israeli military operations in Gaza since then, the Hamas-run health ministry says
Well, we'll have to see - but I so hope that tomorrow will bring clarity that indeed matters will move forward now to peace, and that its not a Trump claim that cannot be backed up

Over 700,000 Palestinians.have been killed in this one sided war. Their homes, schools and hospitals have been flattened. They have been constantly deprived of all aid.
The retaliation from Israel has been brutal and has gone well beyond what is acceptable to civilised people.
We all know about the atrocity committed two years ago by Hamas but there have been many many more atrocities committed in Gaza
by Israel.

I don’t know where that figure came from but Reuters give the figure of 67,000. Somewhat different from 700,000 wouldn’t you agree.
I give you the article where I got the numbers.

Okay, reading it on Facebook, but claiming to be from Times of Israel.
Allegedly, all of the Hostages would have been returned a few days after the Atrocity, but the Israeli government turned down that Hamas proposal.
Haven't heard that version of events before, but if it is really printed in the Times of Israel, no doubt more will be said.

Which is why wars are always ultimately lost by all sides Anniebach.
Wars are always awful for civilians but sometimes there’s no other choice to defend your country.
Gaza, or their government hamas were the aggressors by invading Israel, murdering over a thousand residents and taking over 200 hostages alive and dead. They, and only they are responsible for the war.
Oreo, but how exactly countries respond to aggressors is in their own gift, isn’t it? In my ideal world there would be an international peacekeeping force that would thwart the majority of, and be immediately responsive to, acts of terrorism, perpetrators would be caught and tried, and no further innocent bystander lives would be lost.
My fear for Israel is that the national reputation is tarnished as a result of government over-reaction, and that terrorism will rise as a result. I’m sorry if my thoughts offend you, but I can’t help feeling that as I said, wars are ultimately lost by all sides.
Netanyahu is responsible for the genocide? Are you 'approving' of that?

Allira I haven't twisted what you wrote to suit an agenda I don't have, so don't try to accuse me of something I haven't done.
The fact is that somebody mentioned "Islamist attacks" and you came up with that link, which claimed there have been over a quarter of a million victims of Islamist attacks within a certain time frame (can't be bothered scrolling back to check on the dates).
The truth is that most of the Islamist attacks worldwide have been on other Muslims and are the result of civil wars in so many countries. Think of the English Civil War or the "troubles" in Northern Ireland - both periods in history when people of the same religion fought and killed each other. What Allira wrote was true….every word.
You may not like this being discussed but as I and just about everyone knows, Muslim extremists, terror groups and lone malign actors have caused so many deaths and injuries in the UK and EU countries.
As you mention history, this is now the time when the Islamic extremists are on the rise and causing mayhem.
Sigh! No, it wasn't.

Experiences snipers know who they are killing Annie.
Yes, Hamas and the Clans
Just a point of information
What does this mean
?
No, but they are. That's why they get to be snipers.
Are you an expert?

Impossible not to kill all ages in war
And children being killed in Gaza, so many hundreds, possibly thousands.
Yes, people killing children, anywhere and everywhere, are evil

Who said they were Casdon? However Muslim extremists either acting alone or in groups are now the scourge of the modern world.
People killing children are also the scourge of the modern world.
The Bibas children age 4 and 9 months , taking them from Israel to Gaza and then killing them
Terrorist attacks and wars waged against peoples all cause the death of children Anniebach. The lives of over 20,000 children of Gaza were lost in Israel’s retaliation. I believe their lives were also worth saving. That is not a political statement, it’s a humanitarian one.

Found them WhiteWave. Thanks for letting us know.
Hope that this is the future.
On another note but fitting in with an antisemitic theme, Starmer is asking for training within the NHS as there is so much antipathy shown to Jewish people within hospitals.
There was also a recent survey carried out to assess if public workers aligned with the general public on various subjects and it showed big differences.Civil servants were closer to the views of the public, teachers in the middle and NHS workers of all kinds the furthest away from those views.30% of NHS workers were sympathetic to hamas! Not just Palestinians but hamas.
I think Starmer and whatever dept oversees this aspect of the NHS have their work cut out.

As I said worldwide.
The UK and Europe are not the whole world.
I just hope that there aren’t any relatives on here of innocent victims of the London bombings or the Manchester arena for a start as it’s a shocking thing to make light of recent terrorist attacks. We all know it’s a big problem.
