Don’t you think that we should all be thinking about the victims of this terrible incident. Not only those who were injured but those others who witnessed it as it must have affected them badly too. rather than bickering amoung ourselves. Let’s wait until the police reveal who the perpetrator is, not just his name, and his reasons for carrying out the act, before jumping to conclusions.

Kandinsky, we don’t know if this man was experiencing a psychotic episode. That’s what it sounds like but I accept I’m speculating. We know nothing of his history, or whether he has a history of violence.

: writing the disgusting individuals actions off as mental health is an insult to the millions of people who suffer from mh issues and remain peaceful members of society
Kadinsky I’ve seen no attempts to write off this man’s murderous assaults. Surely we all understand that just as talking about physical health problems covers a spectrum of disease from flu to respiratory failure, reference to mental health problems covers a spectrum from a clinical depression to a psychotic episode.

👍

And - we need to rebuild effective interventions and long term support for people with mh problems. Yes talk about secuurty and knife crime but let’s try preventive approaches

I don't think any of us will forget them or not care, they could be my granddaughter, or my son, or even one of the killers friends. He believed he was taking on the devil in the shape of the people he attacked.

Galaxy Mon 03-Nov-25 17:51:09

He is a violent man and if found guilty should never be released into society. The reasons behind that can be addressed but sometimes there are just very dangerous men.

Wyllow3 Mon 03-Nov-25 18:01:07

After psyche assessment, Broadmoor, Ashworth Hospital or Rampton Secure Hospital if found to be psychotic.

I don’t watch the news these days but did watch it last week. They kept showing footage of the woman who was stabbed by a migrant who was living in the hotel where she worked. I remarked to my partner that, although I understand why they show cctv of people that have gone missing I thought it was totally wrong showing footage of a past event that was very distressing, especially for their family. And would it put ideas into someone’s head?

The timeline certainly indicates he'd been on his murderous spree for a while, the first attack early hours of Saturday morning in Docklands, stabs a 14 year old in Peterborough, fortunately it wasn't serious, then wanders into a barber's shop brandishing the knife, all before he got on the train without being apprehended. It's a miracle he hasn't killed anyone. shock

He behaved in a murderously violent way, it seems over some days.
Whether he was experiencing psychosis or not, he’s facing long prison sentences for eleven attempted murders. I imagine he faces spending the rest of his life incarcerated. I can’t imagine he will ever be released

Watching the video of him entering the barbers was interesting. The knife was concealed in a hold-all.
He drank something from a small bottle which looked like a miniature. He was very unsteady on his feet.
When he left the barbers he concealed the knife back in the bag and just stood there looking around him.

And now the Hero has been named. A rail worker for 20 years, Samir Zitouni, who has been described to have shown 'bravery beyond measure'.

Maremia Tue 04-Nov-25 13:45:11

He is still in hospital, as his injuries were so serious.
Brave man.

Maremia Tue 04-Nov-25 13:50:30

Credited with saving 'multiple lives'.

StripeyGran Tue 04-Nov-25 14:09:00

Hope he pulls through.

LizzieDrip Tue 04-Nov-25 14:38:00

Well done Samir! A very brave man.

Well done Samir! A very brave man.

👏👏👏👏👏

From what little footage I've seen of the perpetrator , this looks like a failure of the Mental Health system.

I don't know anything that anyone else does. just an impression.

Labradora Tue 04-Nov-25 15:06:36

I don't have any more information than anyone else..... might have been better.....

Allira Tue 04-Nov-25 15:15:01

I hope he will recover well but the trauma will always be with him.

1. When they hide what they know from the public people speculate and look for someone to blame.
2. That is why there were riots after the young girls were killed in Southport
3. People are not stupid
4. I really hope that they don’t try to hide and shield the perpetrators of this crime if only to protect others.
5. If it is a terrorist attack the public need to be warned.

Well I bet you feel a bit sheepish now. The hero of the day has a very Muslim name too. I don't suppose it will change your mind though.

Just one suspect now (BBC news).

Oh!

I am concerned that the released one was arrested simply because he was black and in the proximity, and not injured. I hope not.

There have been many incidents when
Schizophrenia sufferers have carried out violent acts on members of the public. There’s nothing to stop someone travelling on public transport if they are a schizophrenic. If a sufferer stops taking their medication their symptoms increase. A paranoid schizophrenic
in the grip of a psychotic episode is capable of acts such as this and I find it strange some of you believe they are monitored. Mental health services are practically non existent in the UK these days and incidents such as this, whilst uncommon, have occurred in the past. People being pushed onto train tracks, a young girl murdered in a park in front of her parents and the Nottingham case, where 3 were killed all carried out by schizophrenics.

This is on the money. We need to devise a better system to ensure people on antipsychotic drugs for schizophrenia take the blessed things. If they won't they need to be incarcerated. Especially if they are large and powerful men.

love0c Tue 04-Nov-25 17:16:32

When I go walking in my local park we always see mentally ill people being escorted by carers. Sometime one of either side of them. It is not unusual to see the carers having to wrestle with the mentally ill person. It can be frightening to see and we keep well, well away when we see this. Some paths are very narrow and you really need to keep your wits about you as often the ill person breaks away from them and the carers quickly grab hold of them.

I am sure the police will know very well who these violent people are. As usual, the truth is suppressed and of course will lead to anger and distress.

Oh dear, it seems your inaccurate and thinly veiled racism was just about as wrong as wrong could be.

StripeyGran Tue 04-Nov-25 17:45:25

People are not stupid? Apparently many are.

Galaxy Tue 04-Nov-25 17:49:37

But it is looking increasingly likely that they should have known who he was, if the reports are accurate that he offended with a knife the previous day.
