Following Southport, relevant information is released as soon as it has been verified.
It is treated as a terrorist incident until information emerges to clarify the situation; it is good training for Immediate Response teams. An immense amount of background work will have be under way ever since the attack was notified.
Your comments do not help this dangerous situation, Nanna8.

1. When they hide what they know from the public people speculate and look for someone to blame.
2. That is why there were riots after the young girls were killed in Southport
3. People are not stupid
4. I really hope that they don’t try to hide and shield the perpetrators of this crime if only to protect others.
5. If it is a terrorist attack the public need to be warned.

Who are 'they'? Why do you think 'they' are shielding the perpetrators? Very strange ideas. The perpetrators have been arrested.

nanna8 - I think you need to go back to bed.

My heart is with the poor victims and their families.

StripeyGran Sun 02-Nov-25 09:49:23

Please out of decency stop this.

Number 2 is all wrong in particular.

And nowhere to go, that is a specific type of horror.

Desdemona Sun 02-Nov-25 09:41:17

Horror in its purest form.

People minding their own business on a train journey and hell is unleashed.

What a terrible incident. You really can't feel safe anywhere. Thoughts and prayers for the injured and their loved ones.

Casdon Sun 02-Nov-25 09:19:23

Absolutely terrible incident. I thought how fortunate it was that Addenbrookes was so close too Babs03, as they do have the skilled clinicians there to deal with such awful injuries, the outcomes for those injured would be even worse if this had happened many miles from a centre of excellence.

Wyllow3 Sun 02-Nov-25 09:18:28

Terrifying - appalling - today's prayers for the victims in hospital.

Babs03 Sun 02-Nov-25 09:13:39

As usual there were heroes putting their own lives in danger in order to try to save lives like the case of an older man shielding a young girl with his body which resulted in him getting stabbed.
My thoughts are with their loved ones and a shout out to all first responders and train crew.
Thankfully one of the best when it comes to hospitals, Addenbrookes, is close by so the victims have been taken there.

Truly horrendous incident the mayor has said. Terrifying for those involved.
An older man saved a young girl from being stabbed and was injured himself. It's heartening to know that good will always be alongside evil

10 people are in hospital, 9 with life threatening injuries. It is absolutely horrific. Any problems I have pale into insignificance. My heart goes out to everyone involved. Quietly sat there with your head phones on, reading a book or kindle, perhaps having a snooze and suddenly all hell breaks loose. The emergency services will all have been trained to act in coordination and have practise runs for a major accident/incident and weren't they marvellous last night. Prayers for the injured and their families.

Exactly this.

Can you please explain your post, nanna8

I was trying to think of a polite way to ask 'WTF was nanna8's post was about?'

It seemed most inappropriate when people are shocked and upset by this terrible incident.

I am sure the police will know very well who these violent people are. As usual, the truth is suppressed and of course will lead to anger and distress.

Allsorts Sun 02-Nov-25 08:04:56

Ther can be nothing that justifies this, why do things get so bad.

Allsorts Sun 02-Nov-25 08:02:48

I didn't know about I until I saw this post. Truly horrific. My thoughts are with the victims and families and anyone touched by this, the public that witnessed it and the Ambulance crew and hospital staff. It's not safe anywhere now, it's truly scary all these attacks with knives.

Galaxy Sun 02-Nov-25 07:43:27

Yes I have read that. Unbelievably awful.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 02-Nov-25 07:42:04

I have just read one of the non injured passengers eye witness account.

Truly horrifying for all concerned.

Franski Sun 02-Nov-25 06:30:05

I just woke up to this. Shocking news and the thing is that train journeys are such an ordinary part of most of our lives. There is no way of preventing a random stab attack. Am so proud of our emergency services and the bravery and compassion of other passengers. I am standing on my conviction that love is stronger than hate and light more powerful than darkness. May justice prevail.

This is awful. Those poor people. It must have been terrifying. I hope the people taken to hospital make it.

J52 Sat 01-Nov-25 23:11:26

I’ve just read the BBC news, how awful. No information on the poor victims yet. Loved ones of those on the train must be so worried.

welbeck Sat 01-Nov-25 21:47:14

Yes. Heard it on the radio just before 9pm.
2 people arrested.
So be aware of not speculating in comments. Having regard to he contempIt of court act 1981.
