Ironic, that the man who has brought Davie down was actually brought in by him.

And so they should! Had any other TV channel done this they would have been closed down. The truth will out.
The BBC have got away with so much over the years and have always been biased and many would say, corrupt. Martin Bashir, Jimmy Savile, Huw Edwards etc

If the BBC decides that it is all a right wing conspiracy to bring them down, and that it is a case of the goodies v the baddies then the BBC will in my opinion, fall. It might not be this year but fall it will.
If as was happening on the media show on r4 today, there is some analysis about was has happened, less focus on the Trump thing ( in my view one of the more minor issues in the report) and an understanding that concerns have been raised by a wide range of people then they may have a chance. Up to them I suppose.
LibDems have been in charge of quite a few councils over the years and I think have a good record overall. But LibDems have not replicated that success at national level nor are they likely to in the future.
Is that because they are not keeping any of the promises made at the council elections perhaps?
Will they reflect thebfact that Reform is now losing elections?
Latest, Wellington Town Council lost to the Lib Dems.
If Reform can't hack running Councils, how can they expect to run the UK?

“Perhaps you could ask AI precisely when all this viewing in the US happened.”
It it really relevant exactly when, my guess it was shortly after the Panorama programme was screened, I’m sure Trumps lawyers know exactly when and where and they are using it as a bluff to get the BBC to back down and apologize. Two senior executives have resigned, that would not have happened if there was no merit in the case.
You're being oddly illogical, David. If your 'guess' is correct why would it take over a year for Trump, who won an election shortly after it was broadcast, to decide that it caused him 'overwhelming financial and reputational harm'?
And what proof would you produce (a 'guess' wouldn't count as conclusive evidence in a court of law) that it was watched by anyone in the US?
Trump's lawyers do what Trump tells them to do, regardless of the merits of the case. If they didn't they would lose a very lucrative client, He apparently initiates a great deal of litigation which never come to court, people just pay up because they couldn't afford the costs involved, or, as in the case of of Paramount which paid up, despite the flimsiness of the case, because they wanted something only Trump could give...
Absolutelt excellent post LemonJam.

If the BBC invites only people who share its 'leftie' views, how come we have seen more of Reform than LibDem on its programmes recently, despite the fact that LibDem has ten times as many MPs as Reform?
Maybe they are reflecting the fact that Reform got more votes than the Lib Dems.
The first past the post system only benefits Labour and Conservative. Well it has up to now. Maybe things are changing. Only time will tell of course.

Allira- anyone who listened and was aware of Trump's speech at the time, 6 January, or read any of the UK newspaper articles at the time of the speech, or listened to any channel news programme at the time, would know that the not only was the speech edited in this BBC programme 3 and half years later, it also aligned with the global, cross political opinion Trump incited the crowd at the time. My post outlined the editing committee's decision thus you are in fact therefore disagreeing with the committee's decision not my view- which of course is your right.
The context and back ground contemporaneous facts and opinions to this speech edit, ie from to media reporting, politician comments etc at time of speech puts the edit decision into context. e.g 3.5 years earlier :
Jeremy Hunt 'President Trump told a crowd to march on Capitol Hill and turned on his VP for upholding the law. He shames American democracy and causes its friends anguish but he is not America".
Boris- PM at time " Donald Trump was completely wrong to cast doubt on the US election and encourage supporters to storm the Capitol" Further Bori said he "unreservedly condemns the US president's actions".
CNN, US news channel Boris PM of UK "On the US and the election, I want to say in all my life America has stood for some very important things- an idea of freedom and an idea of democracy. And so far as he encouraged people to storm the Capitol and inso far as the President has consistently cast doubt on the outcome of a free and fair election, I believe this was completely wrong. What President Trump has ben saying about that has been complexity wrong and I unrervadely condemn encouraging people to behave in the disgraceful way they did in the Capitol."
US CNN news- Iranian President: 'Trump is a sick person who had disgraced his country during a televised speech on Thursday..... When a sick person takes office, we see how he disgraces his country and creates trouble for the world" (ie speech in question 6 January 2021).
CNN- Kosachev, Kremlin- cited regarding speech 'Trump's narcissism, eccentricity and adventurism" as reason behind unrest,
Telegraph newspaper: ' Boris Trump has condemned Trump for 'encouraging people to storm the Capitol" rest behind a pay wall....
Guardian New paper:'The incursion of the crowd, whipped up by Trump's insistence, without evidence that November's presidential election was marred by voter fraud, forced the Senate and the House of Representatives into recess amid a debate over the congressional certification of Joe Biden's electoral victory..... Boris Johnson has joined Labour and The Lib Dems and the SNP in condemning the chaotic scenes in Washington DC that saw Donald Trump supporters storming the Capitol.... the crowd had been whipped up by a speech from Trump earlier" ( link provided to full 70 minute speech)
Farage tweeted "Storming Capitol Hill is wrong. The protesters should leave"
Joe Biden " I call on President Trump to go on National TV now to fulfil his oath and defend the constitution and demand an end to this siege" [Trump continued to tweet...so Twitter froze his account ).
Daily Mail: 'Post riot accounts reveal not only did Trump egg on supporters who wreaked havoc in the Capitol- but he was glued to the TV as events unfolded, incapable of responding to despaired please to use his influence to stop it".
Such a frenzy 3.5 years later in the context of how news outlets and politicians viewed and made public comment Trump's speech at the time, would suggest the current furore attributed to the BBC is disproportionate and somewhat unfair.
I agree with this.
I also think is a McCarthy style witch hunt taking place at the moment but that is just my opinion and the opinion of many others, not just with regard to the BBC.
Others will feel differently which I understand so there is no need to shoot this post down in flames.
Just about to read your link Maizie, thanks.
I think it will be an absolute RESULT if Trump's whole speech is re-broadcast
It should be presented along with the list of thugs that Trump has subsequently pardoned.
But maybe the EPSTEIN FILES will have more traction now?
If anyone is interested, the lawyer David Allen Green has today posted the reply which he thinks should make to Trump's lawyers' letter.

GG13 Well put. Since Right and Left are no better than each other it would be great if a different insult could be used.

It’s quite ironic, given the people whose blood they are baying for are on the right. I wonder if it’s occurred to them that the current government will have more influence on the new appointments. Probably not.
I couldn’t care if they were left, right or upside down, if they (employees and management not the organisation) have done wrong and gone against the BBC’s charter (standards of accuracy and verification) then they should go.
🎯 GG13
Of course the BBC should be held accountable for lies they have " invented " absolutely wrong and they seem to be making more and more errors ...
Oooo never mind the BBC and the Telegraph. Who is going to publish the latest release of the long awaited EPSTEIN FILES?
So, when The Telegraph next demands that the BBC faces consequences for misleading the public, it should take a beat and read its own corrections page . It's the most honest thing the paowr publishes'

The BBC has been forced to make 33 corrections to its coverage overall thus year. And yet The Telegraph has a dramatically smaller headcount and output.
Sounds just like The Guardian.
Renowned (chuckled over by many) at their ‘corrections’.
But here's what you won't find splashed across The Telegraph: in 2025 alone, the paper has been forced to publish over 100 CORRECTIONS, clarifications and formal regulatory apologies. These are the kind of breaches that would, id committed by the BBC, spawn days of front-page indignation in The Telegraph otself.
The Telegraph has used a handful of BBC errors to claim the corporation is institutionally biased, deceptive and should be defunded
I heard Trump's ramblings this morning. I've never heard of a speech being beautiful. It certainly wasn't calming.
“That’s a pretty sad event. They actually changed my January 6 speech, which was a beautiful speech, which was a very calming speech, and they made it sound radical. They showed me the results of how they butchered it up. It was very dishonest and the head man quit and a lot of the other people quit.”
I can't unhear that now, LemonJam!
