And so they should! Had any other TV channel done this they would have been closed down. The truth will out.

The BBC have got away with so much over the years and have always been biased and many would say, corrupt. Martin Bashir, Jimmy Savile, Huw Edwards etc

Hope they learn how to do so GG, and soon.

Whitewavemark2 I definitely support the BBC, I always support and stand up for Britain.

Whether we like it or not POTUS Trump is in office, the world just has to learn to play his game, but better.

Galaxy Sat 15-Nov-25 12:49:30

Yes that us the advice that those who dislike the BBC have been giving out for years.

The legal requirement for a UK TV licence is that you must have a TV licence if you watch or record live TV programmes as they are being broadcast on any channel or service, or if you use BBC iPlayer to watch or download on-demand BBC programmes. This applies regardless of the device or method used, including terrestrial, satellite, cable, or internet streaming. The requirement is mandated by law under the Communications Act 2003 and related regulations, and it applies to any device capable of receiving TV broadcasts live or simultaneously.

You do not need a TV licence to watch on-demand or catch-up services from other providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, or All 4. The licence typically costs £174.50 per year for colour TV and £58.50 for black and white sets. A single licence covers all live TV watching in one household at a given address, but if multiple tenants with separate tenancy agreements live in one property, each may need their own licence. Failure to have a required TV licence can lead to a fine of up to £1,000.

You also do not have to allow any Crapita employee into your premises. I would advise anyone to just tell them to go away.

If they settle I will cancel my licence.

I cannot imagine life without my Tv!

I watch hardly any live tv anyway.

Me neither but I thought you needed a licence to watch anything whether it is streaming or other stations than BBC?

People forget or choose to ignore.

Late at night on R4 I heard the fishing forecast followed by God Save the King.

On another SM website I caught out some dear friends saying, "oh why didnt then BBC play God Save the King on his recent birthday"

And had to correct them by saying that the late Queen herself stopped it in the 1990's

Whitewavemark2 Sat 15-Nov-25 11:56:36

Everyone should stand up for the Brits and the BBC against Trump.

It may not be perfect, but it is a damned sight more legitimate than Trump will ever be.

Wyllow3 Sat 15-Nov-25 11:53:22

Got Radio 4 on. Full of information, humour, kindness, the arts, science, book lovers, those who have disabilities, the Moral Maze which takes on all POV with no judgment on what is "right" religion as in comparative religions but does recognise the prevalence of Christianity in our society with services, top financial advice for individuals from the very top people available:
Any Questions, and the follow up ring in from the public which always include Reform party views just as does BBC TV Question Time itself which does not hesitate for one minute to air Reform Party views...

Trump was on the news this morning saying everything on the BBC is fake. Shows how ridiculous he actually is.
He, along with others, has been trying to undermine Britain for a while now.
Even though I am disappointed in the BBC for allowing this to happen I will stand up for our British Broadcasting Company against Trump.

Good for you. It's not perfect by any means but it's far better than the rest.

I see he's ranting about refugees again. Poisonous person.

Wyllow3 Sat 15-Nov-25 10:53:50

Call his bluff.

the astounding arrogance

the attempt to control what happens in our very own UK.

If he then threatens our trade deals then it shows how truly evil he is, within anyone sense of morality, never mind politics.

He counts not, how many times his own publicity team have done similar, or far worse.

He claims to be a christian, I am disgusted. Full of lies.

I cannot imagine any UK GN possibly supporting this move - *given how many times he has done this to others in the USA - unless they actually want our BBC to be destroyed for this reason.

If you are one of those, shame on you he is attacking the UK itself.

I gather that the latest news is that Trump has not accepted the apology and he is going to go ahead and issue proceedings to sue the BBC for $1bn. The trial will take place in Florida.

He has a weak case. It's outcome could well depend on how independent the Florida judiciary is, though.

The big question is whether the BBC will call his bluff or will they give in and settle out of court.

Magenta8 Sat 15-Nov-25 10:12:29

The latest is that Trump wants to sue for up to $5bn.

The fact that it is only the Trump issue that is being discussed is also telling, this is a report that covers a wide wide range of issues. But of course Trump is the easy one because in the eyes of the BBC and its supporters Trump = bad, there is therefore no need to worry about their own behaviour.

The 'report' is one person's take on the BBC. It's the sort of thing that could have been written as a Spectator article, or on a right leaning comment website.

I'm not sure why it is being given such credence.

The BBC should simply tell him that they’ll see him in court.

Exactly. It's all smoke and mirrors anyway. The funniest thing today is him going ape at Marjorie Taylor Green. Reminds me of Spy on Spy from Mad Magazine back in the old days. I am astounded that any truly patriotic British person could side with Trump quite frankly. So many rabbit holes have been gone down by so many.

Galaxy Sat 15-Nov-25 09:45:53

The BBC and to an extent its supporters. It does demonstrate the bias that exists within it. There are a few within the BBC acknowledging the issues I hope they are the stronger voice.
If your default reaction is ' right wing conspiracy' ( without even acknowledging the 'non right' who are raising concerns) then it won't end well.

Who are ‘they’, Galaxy?

These gnomic offerings of yours do take a lot of unpicking…

Galaxy Fri 14-Nov-25 21:32:11

Their concerns about the impartiality of gibb and their theory that it us all a right wing conspiracy. Honestly in my view if they go down that route it will be the end of them.
